Ohhh sinus infections are not fun! I get one at least once a year & mine hurt too. I had one where my nose was soooo stuffed up that I couldn't even smell that Vicks stuff! Just about the only thing to do is go to the doctor because they can prescribe antibiotics to help clear it all up. If you let it go then it can eventually turn into something worse.

Sinusitis is a form of upper respiratory infection characterized by fullness and pain over the sinuses (both sides of nose, under eyes, between eye brows, forehead). There is inflammation and swelling of the inner lining of the sinuses, with copious amount of thick yellow/green mucus which cannot be drained easily.
Most cases will resolve without any specific treatment (provided that your immune system is functional), but in rare cases, or if you have nasal polyps or abnormal sinus architecture, it can develop into complications such as local invasion into bony tissue, or into brain and cause brain abscesses or meningitis. You can also develop ear infection. Use of anti-inflammatory tablets, nasal sprays and nasal decongestants will aid in easier drainage of mucus, and early recovery (not to mention symptomatic relief), and sometimes antibiotics will help. If you have a history of suffering from bad sinusitis, it may be reasonable to start antibiotics. Otherwise, most people will get over it without problems. People in developing countries get sinusitis, but they don't receive antibiotics....and they get better.
Also remember that smoking can only worsen or delay recovery.
Liberal use of antibiotics for conditions that your immune system can deal with adequately is not encouraged, as it can lead to development of resistant strains in the community. Having said that, many doctors feel obliged to prescribe antibiotics to people so that their patients will feel looked after (and will get out of their surgery quickly).
I'm a doc, and have easy access to antibiotics, but I hardly ever put myself (or my family) on antibiotics...and we're doing OK

Pain is the body telling you their is something not working correctly, it is an early warning light so to speak. Sinus infections can become very serious and then require surgery. They are not something you want to ignore and hope the symptoms disappear. Make an appointment tomorrow. Good luck!

Definitely. Every sinus infection weakens the part of your skull between your nose and your brain. Not good. Get antibiotics ASAP.
