- Today we celebrate all the good things you have found in each other, a best friend, a lover, a teacher, a playmate and a true partner in life. Cheers!

Here is a good start to break the ice, it gets a laugh and then you can go on with a standard speech.

FORNICATION….Sorry …FOR AN OCCASION such as this I would like to thank you all for coming to celebrate the marriage of xxxxx and xxxxx here today. A wise man once told me that the Best Man’s speech should last as long as the Groom makes love….. Thank you ladies & gentlemen & have a good evening. (Sit down for a couple of seconds then stand)

A piece of cake.....just make a speech about how long you've known your friend and what qualities you see in him. Then talk about when did you first realise that your friend was in love with his girl and you kinda feel that their relationship's gonna lead to this special wedding day eventually. Then talk about the virtues of this girl that he's gonna marry and wish them all the best. End with some romantic quote. There will be plenty from the internet.

I was the best man at a wedding on Sunday, its not your wedding its theirs so it makes no difference if you have ben in love. As a guide to the best mans speech check out bestmansspeech.com etc there are loads of them. You need to follow tradition, so thank the bridegroom for his kind words about he bridesmaid which you agree with, crack some mild jokes regarding grooms past, finish saying how lovely the couple are etc toast 'to the bride and groom' - job done in about 5 mins.

Being the best man isn't about ever being in love. It's about the love you two share as friends. Just relax and think about your friendship and this woman that he's going to be sharing his life with from now on. Something will come to you. Just remember to keep it short and don't try to force the funny. If you miss you'll be embarrassed and everyone will be embarrassed for you. Uncomfortable all around.

You need to find some of his history, Old girl friends, etc, something that is slightly embarrassing but not over the top. And break up your speech with these small moments so you don't bore the audience, while you are also saying the good things about him!

Stick to funny/anecdotal stories about misadventures you and your friend have been on.

Wrap it up with something a little mushy, like: "Love is why we are put on this earth, and its obvious that John and Julie (or whoever) are a match made in heaven", then raise your glass and let your bottom lip wobble a bit.

i think if your friend picked you as his best man, theres a reason, try pulling up memmories of past where you shared wonderful times and wish the couple well/ you have to figure out a way to communicate this feeling of love and friendship verbally~~just relax and something will come to you, if your really in a jam for something to say~~find an inspirational quote or 2

If life has an end it is not yet here, things do come and go, time pass us by, places we only go to see, but a relationship like these is the defination of love. (It might help)

Is a mate = friend ?
Here in the USA. mate = spouse.
Anyway, a short speech about how lucky your (mate) is to have found such a wonderful person and how happy they will be together.
