in tanjore paintings what cloth is pasted on wood?cotton or silk?i mean over what do we apply the paste?

I think it is better if u can find some kind of a natural gum. If Not use available craft glue. If you want to apply the glue over the material use Cotton. Silk u can use for sticking as decoration on it. But Cotton is a good base.
