Well there is no doubt that the availability of certain jobs is part of the problem. If you get rid of the companies and individuals that provide jobs to illegals, then the rest of the problem will all but solves it self. If you get rid of the main reason they come up here, they will stop coming up, but still left with the same dilemmas that are making them desperate, they may reach a point were they will have no choice but to turn on their government and demand that things change in there country.

Yes, there's be thousands of jobs still that would need to be filled by immigrants, but what person wants to immigrate to the US legally just to work in a field, or clean toilets, or take care of whiny children?

There are good economy years and bad economy years. People don't evaporate in a bad economy, they just turn more to social services - all at once.

Also, the impact on the schools is my biggest problem. Our own children won't be qualified to compete if the schools are constantly degraded by huge influxes of foreigners too poor to pay their 'share' even if they pay all taxes.

that all depends if you can find an American citizen to work out in the fields or orchards for what they pay illegals. chances are they wont do it.even at minimum wage i doubt if any American would do be out in the hot sun doing this type of work.
