Apparently so:

This is due to EU law.
Britain ought to demand an increase, not a reduction, in the annual refund from the EU that Margaret Thatcher negotiated.

Rubbish
The Daily Mail/Express are reputed for filling the toilet paper they sell with rubbish and lies about immigration. I work in employment and Eastern European are not permitted to claim any form of benefits until they have been working here for at least 12 months.
'Police Girl' knows Polish people yet she's one of the most racist people on this site, yeah right!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell us another Billy Liar.
She slags immigrants off but in another answer she claims she's Bulgarian? Hypocrite or just a twisted liar? You decide.
The fact is, out of 500, 000 economic migrants less than 200 have actually claimed any form of benefit, the majority of these have claimed sickness (incapacity or disability) benefits due to events that have taken place since they arrived here. Also for those who read their Bibles (tabloid trash such as The Mail/Express) less than 120 of these 500,000 have council housing before you complain "they are taking our homes" as well as your jobs.

I think you'll find that they are able to claim benefits in their own country for the children who are still there but it is there home country that pay it (at local rates). You would not be able to claim for a child who lived in Hungary or Poland (or for that matter) the next street if they didn't actually live with you. Either someone has just told you a scare story or you're a member of the BNP trying to start one.

If this is true then what a great state of affairs this country is turning into. I used to be proud to call myself British. Now we are just becoming an extension of the old Eastern Block countries.

Nothing surprises me about this country anymore. I bet thousands of Roumanians and Bulgarians have already packed their suitcases in readiness to come over here to drain more of our resources. When I see how much tax is deducted from my wages every week it makes me angry to think that a lot of it goes to support these parasites.

Tony blair is an absolute farce...he has destroyed our home by letting this happen..he must be getting something out of this because who ...in the right mind would do this out of kindness...no one. i hope.
Eventually, when i have worked my a55 off for 20 years, i might have enough money to immigrate to one of their countries and live like a king for the rest of my life...because it's not going to happen here.
I know something for sure....it's going to get alot worse before it gets better. By the looks of it now, its not going to get better at all.
I am ashamed to be here and call myself a brit
