sin if you look at it in the eyes of Religion.... For Catholics and Christians that is....

In India if your Hindu.... they encourage boys and girls to do it... Cuz it's a sense of pleasure.... which means in there eyes that.... "One should learn to take care of one's self...."

but for me, it's a normal thing....

if it's a sin, well....

everybody sins right??

that's why you go to church =)

I don't label anything a sin, because I don't subscribe to the concept that there is anyone capable of judging humanity other than other humans. there is my own moral compass, which was formed, and continues to be moderated, by events and influences in my childhood and my life. Then there is the law. Masturbation contravenes neither in itself. For people who are single, I don't believe masturbation comes anywhere near a moral grey area, nor should it. It is harmless, can help take the edge off the day,and allows us to focus on other things without being swamped by the natural animal instincts we possess. Within committed relationships, it is for the people in the relationship to determine where the line on masturbation is - some couples might not want each other to masturbate when alone, as they'd like to save up all their sexiness for each other, while other couples wouldn't mind their partner masturbating, and indeed might share the experience. That's a line for them.

To me, there's no such thing as sin, and if there was, masturbation wouldn't qualify.

Absolutely NOT a sin! Masturbation is normal, healthy and fun, one of the joys in life! No side effects, more and more evidence of long term mental and physical benefits. What's not to like there? I truly feel sorry for these religious fanatics, be they Catholic or Muslim or whatever who feel that such a wonderful, harmless activity is a sin. If the Catholic Church had permitted or even encouraged their priests to at least masturbate, the Church wouldn't be in the moral and financial ruin it is today. Nope, masturbation is definitely NOT a sin!

it all depends on the thoughts that flow through the mind while masturbating. l've tried to quit masturbating many times but l've had to continue at least 3 times a week for health reasons and the fact that the penis will shrink if it is not used regularly.l was having trouble urinating constantly after going more that 2 weeks without releiving myself. So l've decided to do this at least 3 times a week for health reasons. My fantasies are true Love and marriage while l enjoy doing this. l think it would be a sin to fantisise on unlawful sex such as threesome or any adulterous affairs.

Masturbating is a healthy way of releasing tension. It amazes me that in this day and age that people still think its a sin. It's a private thing mostly, and can even be part of sex play with your significant other.

These folks on here that are against it obviously have never done it, or they wouldn't be so quick to judge. Sad, really.

It is ABSOLUTELY a sin. You said you already knew it was, so I am sure you base that on the Bible. Not sure why you would want anyone else's opinion, as they will all be beneath the Lord's. I won't go in to the different scriptures that support this.

For preppy roxy:
If that is why you go to church, it is no wonder why your view is so twisted. You need to brush up on why you are SUPPOSED to go to church. God did not write us a free ticket to sin all through the week and get forgiven on Sunday.

For jayesh:
Whee in the world did you get your information? It had to be somewhere off the internet.

I think it is a sin, just because it is about pleasing yourself. Sex should be in a committed marriage, and be for giving pleasure to the other person. So it's the selfishness of it that makes it sin.

The problem with the way christianity has been preached stems from labellling what is or should not be sin......if we all rely on the Holy spirit like christ did, which incidentally raaised him from the dead, then all the diffrent doctines or revelation or Rhema would
not be necessary

Its a sin

I do not think it is a sin. It is a way to give yourself pleasure, so why would that be a bad thing? No one should have any right to tell you what, or what not to do with yourself.
