Can I use a .avi file as a screensaver?

Question

If so, is there a way to do it without downloading some hokey software that might have adware or spyware in it? Say, preferably from within Windows XP itself? The file is a divx5 movie. I already have the codec to play it in Winamp or Windows Media.

I would want the .avi to simply play on a repeating loop.

convert .avi file to .swf file using softwares like swish max.. then convert .swf to screen saver. Lot of softwares available to convert .swf file to screensaver
