Please don't take this as an insult but in a way my response can be little more than an insult so here goes...for starters you are reading from the king James version correct? Its full (some 20,000) errors. Read from the Septuagint and original writings. The kings english is deliberately convoluted. So you are mislead. And i have quite a surprise for you, read Genesis chapter one again to the beginning of chapter two. There are two creations here, there were many people on the earth before, long long long before Adam & Eve. The purpose of Adam & Eve was to bring the bloodline of Yahshua into the earth and create modern man our predecessors. Onanism is considered a sin because a mans' seed is life and Onan was instructed to do something and he deliberately told God no. You dont tell God "no" I will have to reread Judges 11 but the book of Habbukuk was yet another lesson in obediance and He was dead on about "this is nothing wait till you see whats coming..." It is beginning to happen right now in our time, Things here on earth are going to get really bad really quickly within the next 3 to six years.
Yahshua told things in parables because of Psalms 111. The knowledge of the bible is revealed to the obedient and faithful only. He HAD to speak plainly to the disciples on occassion because they didnt always get it. No one does, no one ever has "gotten it" all the time. The bible is a journey to search, to try your heart, test your obediance and willingness to listen and learn and improve.
Taking away the "candlesticks" from the churches is a metaphor to remove the knowledge from those who would seek to mislead others with the word and it is the result condition of a church who does not follow the truth given in the bible. A candlestick lights the path you are on when in the dark like we are.

Adam and Eve & Cain & Seth: Even after they were removed from the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve lived in a near-perfect world where food was abundant, there were no predators, the weather was near perfect, there was no disease, and the need for shelter was minimal. They were made with perfect bodies. Consider this: Seth was considered by Eve to be the replacement for Abel, so it seems obvious that Seth was born just after Abel's death. Seth was born when A & E were 120 years old. Here's my point: The perfect man and the perfect woman living in the perfect environment, and the first thing God told them to do was procreate. Do you think that in 120 years all they had was three kids??? The story being told there is not the story of the first five people on earth, it is the story of the first murder. Do the math, in 120 years there could literally be millions of humans on earth, all descendants of Adam and Eve. The Bible is not an exhaustive study in human history, just the story of how we fell into sin's power, and how God has created a Way of Salvation.
Enoch and Elijah were the only two humans God translated into His Presence directly. They'll be back. (See Revelation)
Onan's sin was not 'spilling his seed on the ground', it was refusing to raise heirs to his brother. That's the way widows were protected against abandonment back then. Near kinsmen were required to give them children if they were childless so the children could inherit what would have who should have been their father's portion, and they would care for their mother. Of course this meant that the one who sired those kids now would not inherit the share of property he would have it that kinsman had remained childless. So Onan was being greedy, is what that boils down to.
"J" was a commander of a military force. He did indeed promise to do what you described. No where does the Bible indicate that God wanted him to make that promise, and no where does it indicate that God threatened him if he failed to keep it. This is not a story of God desiring a human sacrifice, it is a story of what a bad idea it is to go shooting your mouth off to God, and how stupid pride is.
Looks like one or another answerer has given good info on the rest of your points. I hope you really desire to consider the information you have been provided from sincere sources. I mean, if you want to point to something impossible in the Bible you have no further to go than Jesus's Ressurection. Who in their right mind would believe a dead corpse, tortured, beaten, and bled out, would come back to life? That's Christianity in a nut-shell right there. It takes a conscious decision to choose to have faith in that claim to be a Christian. Anything else is easy to take in after that. It takes a lot of study and understanding to begin to fathom how that could have really happened, and until someone reaches that level of understanding their 'faith' can easily be led astray into superstition. Christians as a whole are some of the most superstitious people on Earth. So I understand how you can feel led to ridicule things like you point out. But don't stop with face value. Always ask yourself why any sane person would leave something that dumb in a book he wants to use to control the population. If you'll search for answers with a desire for understanding you will find what is there is not foolishness at all (although it may be a record of someone's foolishness!), it is wisdom - and it did not come from men, but from a loving, holy God Who only desires our well-being and fellowship.

Hmmm, I sense a bit of bitterness here.
When read with the wrong heart attitude, the bible can seem strange, and cause offense. Try to read it with an open mind.
Firstly, back in the very first days of man, there was no law against what would now be called 'incest'. Genetically, they were perfect, there was no real possibility of having deforemed babies if you slept with your sister. Also, due to the high oxygen content on the earth at that time (Post flood) they lived to be 900 odd years old. So there would've been hundreds of people, all differing ages, many to choose from for a mate. Even if you were related. God had not given the laws for not sleeping with cousins or sisters or whatever!
As for the rest of the stories, well, God looks on the heart. So if God was mad with a particular person for something, he only knew what they were doing it for and had a right to judge!
Basically, it is hard to understand the bible by way of todays culture and perception, so you have to look outside the square. One thing that does remain is, man's heart can still be wicked and selfish. And one day will be judged also, so look at that - yourself, and see how your heart measures up.

I think you need to start reading the bible figuratively. I was reading last night about different views on many of these stories. Some of the old testament was told in other cultures that had different names for the characters and different Gods they spoke to. I think that alot of what was told had some truth to it, but over so many years could be changed. The same moral of the story remained though, and that was the overall importance of its place in the bible. Some people can't see the point of a story that seems so completely far fetched, and others think that they are told because it is to show God is capable of anything. Why do you think there are so many Christian denominations? They are all branching out because they each interprit the bible differently.

you may fairly get a version that has been translated to place across the techniques and language of the Bible into greater modern-day textual content cloth. i prefer to propose the recent residing Translation or New international version for that. The previous testomony could be examine from beginning off to end, however the recent testomony is slightly distinctive. The books interior the recent testomony have been written by ability of the apostles of Christ (the persons who frolicked with him at the same time as he taught and by using his crucifixion, and who observed him after his resurrection). So, Matthew Mark Luke and John are fairly an identical tale, yet advised from 4 distinctive viewpoints (those books conceal the beginning, existence, teachings, death, and resurrection of Christ). The books in a while can fairly be examine in chronological order, besides the shown fact that it won't bypass like a narrative. many of the later books are letters from the apostles to communities of persons residing particularly areas.

Don't blame God for the things and mistakes done by humans. The Bible doesnot exist in the form it was revelated. Look at the differences in all the editions you can find. Moreover, it may contain some word of God but the book as a whole is the word of God is not possible. How can God make mistakes and contradict his own statements?
Try attacking a religion that is strong enough to handle each and every query of yours.

If you think that's messed up, wait until you find out that goodness is a lie too. That the bible had some truth after all. People don't follow man's law. So the bible invented a God. That way people would stop being messed up with each other. Hey dude, can you imagine the chaos when religion falls. Every pervert will group up with every psycho and rebel against the government. People will suicide as their lives become dull, for they stop believing life is worth living, for you can do so much until you realize it's all the same crap. Dude, don't worry man, no one ever believes the guy that knows it all. Besides, tomorrow you won't remember reading this. Unless you are one of the chosen ones. Later.

Jesus spoke in parables, because it was prophesied that He would. And in actuality the pharisees did understand what He was saying, that's why they hated Him.
Candlestick, the church is supposed to be a light in the darkness, if they fall away from the true Word, their light will be extinquished.
Next time you read the Holy Scriptures, Come in faith and ask the Lord to open up your heart and mind to His Word. As it is hidden from [people who are to perish. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.

RELATIONSHIP with God. Everyone has that need to be fulfilled.
Ask God to help change from anger and bitterness in your heart to something else.
As the Beatles said (I think in the book of John) All you need is love
