When people look at the sky, the light blue background with white cotton like substances all over which people take a deep breath and say how heavenly does the the sky look like, so this makes people guess that heaven is up in the sky.
Who even knows that heaven or hell even exists, what i know for sure is hell and heaven is here in this current life. What we do we will get it back sooner or later, in this life not afterlife. Do good you'll get good, do bad you'll suffer soon.
Not only Christians believe in heaven and hell, almost all religions do, so i guess not only Christians will look down on everybody, if there is any up.

Its not in the sky, you cant get in any device and fly there, "heaven" is interdimensional. Its all around you just vibrating on a different frequency. Read Ezekiels' account of his close encounter of the third kind in Ezekiel 1, 3 and 10. Then re-watch the movie "Independance Day" when the aliens show up and come boiling through the clouds. While the ships in the movie travel through physical space, the event Ezekiel witnessed describes pretty much the same visuals. Read where Peter is lead from prison by an angel, the angel literally appears through a solid wall. Read where Yahshua Himself "appears in the midst of them standing round about" These are interdimensional creatures of purity and love. Forget religion and all its fairy tales of christmas, easter and war, angels with wings...bah humbug!
Heaven is not in the sky, its right next to you, literally. And real christians dont look down on anyone, only fake, phony, nationalistic, right wing, mislead, self righteous, politically and racially motivated fakes look down on others.

Hello!! :o) You know something? Just because someone YOU once knew claimed to be a Christian and yet were an awful, self-righteous and judgmental person - that doesn't mean that ALL Christians are that way. In fact - I would have to question if that awful person [or persons] who so negatively effected YOUR impression of Christians was a Christian at all. God tells us that we can know someone by their 'fruits'. In other words - by what they DO. Anyone can SAY that they are a Christian. That alone doesn't make it so. If a person is mean-spirited, judgmental, unkind and/or cruel - than they are NOT following the word of God. They are NOT following Christ. And if a person is NOT following Christ - than they are NOT a Christian. It's as simple as that. As for where 'heaven' is - it's back here on earth. When a man dies - his soul goes back to God. When Christ returns to EARTH - those 'souls' who accepted Him in this life [the one we are going through now] will go back to earth with Him. Craig!! :o)

Who ever said it was? I think the phrase "above the earth" may have been used but I believe that it was referring to the spiritual plane not the physical. If heaven was in the sky, NASA would be much better funded.

Heaven was described as being in the sky in the buybull plain as day.. (Tower of Babel). Scientists pointed their telescopes out there and didn't see it. Now Christians have pushed heaven off into another realm. They move the goalposts every time science reveals another one of their BS lies.

Its a figure of speech. When you think of a King you will immidiately picture a man on a higher ground on a throne. Similarly Heaven is where God is and God is the King of heaven and earth and what lies in between.
Earth is round and sky is all around it then point and tell me which way he is? it's just a figure of speech... A place where God is, a place out of reach of humans in their current state and form.
Moreover, its not the a particular faith holders will enter heaven its based on who did what when God sent his messenger to their respective people with commandments.

Because hell has too many people and it's too heavy to put in the sky so they put heaven there instead. Heaven is fun for awhile, then suddenly you float over close to one of those black holes and you get sucked in and your body vaporizes into a billion pieces and then cycles in it for most of eternity. Sometimes the pearly gates get sucked in too and they are a pain in the neck to try and dodge.

its' not quite 'in the sky' per se. it somply is a way of putting that abstract idea into terms that we understand. basically, it's beyond the realms of our understanding.
and it certainly isn't so that christians can look down on everyone else, for to do so would go against the teachings of the church!

You can't judge an entire group of people by actions of some of its members. There'a a word for that: prejudice.
Not all Christians are like that. Some are kind, loving, and wonderful people. (No I'm not Christian. :P)
Not all Muslims are terrorists. Not all Muslims are even Arab!
Asking a philosophical question like that, only to follow it with narrow drivel is rude.
