How to help others?

Question

I desperately feel as though I am not doing enough good in the world. I want to reach out and help others, but I am in such a bad situation in life myself, I find this very difficult. What are some small things I can do?

You can use your own experience with problems in the past to help people who are going through the same problems now. You can give them advice, provide information and give them support.

If you have some spare time on your hands you can do volunteer work for a charity organization. If you have money you can spare you can use it to support a good cause. If you have old clothes that you don't need anymore you can give them to charities that will forward them to people who need those clothes.

Be a good person and inspire others to be good and to help others. :) Everyone can help others in some ways.

You can do small things, ordinary things with great love. It does not take great things. You can serve dinner one day a week at a soup kitchen, or help pack food boxes, or even spend one day a week helping illiterate people learn to read. Little pebbles can make great waves.This is my philosophy.

The best thing you can do is to pray and read your Bible.

Go to a hospital and read to the elderly and the blind, they will greatly thank you for this kind gesture. Or you could teach some one to read, there are a lot of iliterate adults in this country.
