A friend of mine just called me about a condition he is having. He has a strange rash that appears not shaving for a day or two. The rash breaks out around his chin and moustache area. He does have dry skin, but this rash only happens in those two areas, and only after not shaving. The affected area turns red and itches, and then after 5-10 hours it will become a rash. After shaving, the rash will go away after a day, only to reappear once he has gone another day or two without shaving. I have looked up answers, but the only the close I have found is Psoriasis. So if there are any skin doctor's out there, I would like a good opinion on what could be causing this.

Well if its on the hairy areas like moustache and the chin .... I would say seborrhoeic dermatitis..... Inflammation of the oil glands in that area. The main complaints are itchy, reddish rash in the hair bearing areas with yellowish greasy scales..... Meet your dermatologist for confirmation and treatment. You could try using Nizoral shampoo to wash that area.
It could also be tinea barbae (fungal infection) but would have started spreading to surrounding areas. Its seen as reddish itchy patch with pustules and scaling at the periphery... Would not improve with shaving.
Psoriasis would not itch much... other areas like scalp would also be involved... would not improve with shaving
Please meet the dermatologist.

OK... So the rash comes from the hairs... he has thick hair where he shaves because that's what shaving does, and that causes the rush when the hair is trying to get out. Also having dry skin making it worse. So for the dry skin i recommend to wash the face with vinegar every day.
Then for the rash i would say use avocado on the afflicted area .

It sounds ta me like he just needs to put lotion on it.
Psoriasis can only be diagonsied by a trained dermatologist. So you might see if he could get his doctor to send him to one. I dont know what it is personally because i'm not there and i'm not a dermatologist.
I know someone that has Psoriasis and it itches a lot. Unbareably almost. But there are creams for it to relieve the sting. And a netrogenia shampoo that keeps the flakes from being an issue. But its just for your hair.
There is also a shot but with the side effects and risks most people just suffer through it without the shot.
