I saw a commercial on tv one time and the hair stylist used some Mayonaise on the hair. It helps the curl in the hair. No idea how, but it worked. The stylist said it would bring back more of the natural curl. The mayo was used like a styling gel, very lightly on the hair. As for the curlers why don't you purchase a spiral, curling iron.

Perms are fairly save nowadays. It's the stylist you need to worry about. Make a consultation appointment. Find out if the stylist sounds like she knows what she is talking about. Look for her feeling your hair for texture and condition. If you have put any chemicals on your hair you need to tell her, but of course she would know by the feel. Anyway, get a loose curl, if done correctly you will love it!
