There are so many steps involved. I just don't know if it's possible in my lifetime.
I hope so.

As long as there are different beliefs and different nations as well as culture clashes there will never be a time when there is not conflict of one kind or another some place. I know most of you will not believe that the world is more at peace now than it has since thousands of years ago. It is true even if it seems like it is going to hell fast. Get to know some about history and you will see that you really do not have it as bad as you think. Some people are in extreme danger all the time and this I sure would like to change. The majority of peoples have very little to fear. Look at what is real. I left my home nation because of the fear that has taken hold there. I live in a much more dangerous place now and actually feel safer. Strange I know but it is the law that scares me back there not the criminals. Land of the free has now become tha land of fear.

Contrary to what many people have answered here, Humanity is primarily a peaceful species. Humans in their default state prefer peace to war, prefer love to hate.
There are more than 6.6 billion people on this planet. more than 6 BILLION of those people are NOT at war, are not feeling consumed by hate, and are living peacefull lives. I, personally, am not at war, are you?
The media are shoving war and conflict down your throat 24/7. Why? It suits their shareholders and advertisers. However, it is a thoroughly false view of the world.
I look out of the window and see a peaceful world. I suspect you do too, but you switch on the television news and see war, conflict, terrorism, crime, accidents, natural disasters, etc. These things are on the news because they are very rare and the exception to normality.
The news reports items that are exceptions to normality, So people are watching the news and believing that these stories are the norm. because it is all they see 24/7, when actually the news shows you abnormality for 24/7. I mean, would you watch the news if they reported, "Old lady buys bread at supermarket!" That is the norm. it's not on the news.
In fact I coud argue that the world is so peaceful that the media have to hype up the normal. Only last week we had, "Old lady takes hand cream onto an aircraft horror!!! Airport closed in security shocker!"
so I would argue that we do live in a peaceful world. How much further do we have to go to have a totally peacefull world?
In the words of Gandi, there is no road to peace, peace IS the road.
And in the word of Jimi Hendrix, when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

When (IF) technology rises to the point that it can provide all of our worldly desires while releasing us from the burden of earning money to obtain them.
In other words, when "Star Trek" technology exists to such an extreme that there is nothing you can not have if you just think about wanting it.
On second thought, there will still be those that want to control the world, or by that time perhaps the galaxy, and well, there's just a few of those around and the fighting could get intense. Kind of like the Klingons and the Federation in the original Star Trek.

Ha ha...peaceful world? I suppose you believe poverty can be eradicated too. This is a world of nature and animalistic drives. Never mind the fabled stories of 'Gods' and 'Spirits', world 'love' and 'solidarity'.
Or those like the one above me who claim to live in a peaceful world. Just because one lives in this great country of ours and does not see crime, burning cars or armed men does not mean the world is really utopia. Those few have a false sense of realism. One can easily forget TRUE survival life and struggle after sitting in an air conditioned home with satellite TV, espresso and a laptop. They cannot challenge themselves to go to ANY part of this country much less a foreign one to view those who cannot go outside in flip flops, steaming cup of tea and humming birds around their flower gardens. I challenge someone like him to tell a third world genocide victim it is 'normal' for an old woman to buy bread,(from which she can pick and choose varieties), in a supermarket, and that the struggling refugees are merely the 'exception' to our pretty, lovely and peaceful world. I love my country and wouldn't want it any other way. Thank goodness we don't harbor terrorists or tyrants!
The genocidal impulse isn't an anomaly. Humans are hardwired for it. Only civilization and the rule of law occasionally allow cultures to control the enduring longing to exterminate those perceived as enemies.

First, except that 2/3 of man kind will have to die. The remaining will be fortunate to live under a one world government, with one country (no boundaries) and a sharing faith. Think about it, with no opposing countries or religions the world would be at peace.

When your greed's are replaced with your needs.
Then and only then will we the people be free of the new world order that preaches greed is good.
It is run by the most greedy of all the government and dictators.
Running close second is the so called religious nuts of all denominations. Get them out of the fray and you could be well on the way to peace.

The only time this world will be peaceful is after Jesus return. There is nothing that we can do to bring it other than preaching to all the world.

When the vast majority of people think, analyze and reason out why they are here in this world. Everybody should think why GOD created him/her. Man should realize the purpose of his creation and should put in all efforts to live up to that purpose intended by GOD.
GOD! "Guide us to the straight way - The Way of those on whom you have bestowed your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned your anger, nor of those who went astray."
