why when we culture vibrio sp. we need to restrict the light?

i have done my experiment yesterday, my lecturer ask me to cover up the plates with aluminium foil to restrict the light.. i just want to know why.. i want to put it in my discussion section

The plates would change composition if light is a factor. Ex. glow in the dark sticks: the light changes what we see in the dark.
