How many people out their think that the Bible teaches that the earth is flat?

Isaiah 40:22 - It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

The Hebrew word for circle refers to a "sphere"

This was spoken by the prophet Isaiah around 3000 years ago. Think about it!

Please go and study the bible before you preach the wrong.

Most of the atheists/unbelievers just pick a word and try to give descriptions like fools.

Just bend and see??? The floor you are standing/or sitting on is circle or flat???

Tell me.

The bible was written by primitive peoples who knew next to nothing about even basic science. It is, in Carl Sagan's words, "half fairy-tale, half barbarian history."

Here are a few references to a flat Earth in the bible:
Isaiah 11:12 mentions the "four corners of the Earth." The bible literalists, at least, can not argue that this is metaphor.
Isaiah 40:22 refers to "the circle of the Earth." And tents are spread out over flat surfaces, not spheres.
Ezekiel 7:2 also refers to the "four corners of the Earth."
Daniel 4:10-11 refers to a tree so high that it could be seen "to the end of the Earth." This is only possible on a flat world, and of course a sphere has no "end".
Matthew 4:8 likewise refers to a mountain high enough to see "all the kingdoms of the Earth." Again, only possible on a flat planet...or if the authors of the bible were ignorant of lands beyond the horizon. But the bible's the word of god, so it couldn't be factually incorrect, riiight?
Ditto for Luke 4:5 & Revelation 1:7.
Revelation 7:1 again repeats that Earth has "four corners."

A note to gg_mathena:
Aside from your display of gross scientific ignorance, your arguments also make common use of two logical fallacies, the argument from ignorance and the argument from personal incredulity. The former means, "science doesn't know yet exactly how this happened, therefore, goddidit." The latter means, "I refuse to believe that we came about through purely natural laws, therefore, goddidit." Both are forms of non sequiturs, meaning the conclusion is not supported by and does not follow from the stated premise. Please educate yourself greatly in both science and rational thinking before spouting off your holier-than-thou proselytizing. You're only providing atheists with a good chuckle at your lack of brainpower.

So let me get this right, you are saying that Isaiah stated that the heavens are curtains and that we live upon this sphere with the curtains for protection, because we are all grasshoppers, and you believe him,
hop it buddy,
how can you take the writings of a man who has never lived in this or our world as to be accurate, the earth was apparently a lot less populated it would be logical that the population would increase by an expediential amount with all that begetting going on, take it for what it is a good read, how rellevant is it today, regards LF

Exactly and you are correct my friend. Here is something for our atheist visitors.

What you see is not as real as God. What you see should prove to you their is a God. If you try and tell me we just became without a creator then you need to go rethink some things. Ask an athiest How the whole universe came about to exist and I mean every galaxy and every star, also the ones still forming. Ask how the earth has one set speed it to turn and one set speed to rotate around the sun. Also the sun is just at the right distance for life to be sustained here on earth which includes billions of diverse lifeforms (That according to athiest just popped out of nowhere or crawled out of the Ocean). Where did the Ocean come from then?. Also ask them to get an empty glass and set it up in their house and go back to the glass 20 or 30 years or more if needed and see whats in it..........you know what would be in it? Still nothing. You have to have a Creator and it scares them. Also for the big bang theory supporters........where did the material that went bang come from and the energy to make it go BANG? I'll tell you God created it and he may have made a "BIG BANG" out of it to put it where he wanted it. I won't dispute that because the Universe is still expanding. All in all the athiests have to many questians to explain themselves that the Bible already explains. I'd rather believe there is a God and die and if there isn't I lose nothing but if there is and I've argued to people he isn't then I would lose alot. Think it over friend. Are you really sure about denying God?

Daniel (4:10-11) wrote, "I saw a tree of great height in the middle of the earth. It reached to the skies, and could be seen from the farthest edges of the earth."

"Maybe a tall tree could be seen from all points on a flat earth, but not from all points on a sphere. The surface of a sphere has neither edges nor a middle."

Taken from this article which explains how the bible writers described a flat earth.

I don't think you are correct about the translation of circle.

It says in Amos, "He builds his layers in the heavens, and founds his strata in the earth."

I won't go into some essay about the Bible, but this much is certain. The ancient man was very well attuned to the reality of his physical environment and by no means some superstitious clod running around throwing dull sticks at lizards.

The modern man is farther removed from knowledge than at any point in the history of the world.

He substitutes the accrual of technological knowledge for the wisdom of understanding human interactions.

To try to show the modern man anything of relevance in the metaphysical place of the mind, is like trying to tell a child how to parent.

Daniel 4:10-11

"Now these were the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed: I was looking, and behold, there was a tree in the midst of the earth and its height was great. The tree grew large and became strong and its height reached to the sky, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth."

A tree cannot be visible to the whole earth if the earth is sphere shaped.

I agree. The Bible writers, under inspiration from God, knew the earth was round, a sphere. It is possible that the ancient Phoenicians used this information to circumnavigate Africa and possibly reach America, long before Columbus.
And HOW did people get to the Americas from their beginnings after the flood [ from Turkey]

Yeah, and the Talmud from 2000 years ago has a story that some Ceasar proved it. Only ignorant people ever thought the world was flat.

and how are you going to explain the flat earth with 4 corners?

Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
