that is an excellent question.
my first reaction is to say a resounding yes. i have always been afraid of pain, to the point that i wouldn't let them draw blood. i haven't had my blood checked since i was in 8th grade, and even then i ran from the nurse.
i have always also been afraid that i would have a painful death or face torture in my life. growing up with a religious mother, i was afraid that my eternal inheritance would hinge on what i would be able to take. i would get so upset at the prospect of it all.
however, pain can be very important as a warning system of danger. it could have incomprehensible consequences.
being a christian (not like my mother, though), i have decided that to be truly free, i am to be free of the fear of pain too. the fact that the bible talks about christians being put to death for their beliefs seemed to spell out that i was not exempt from the possibility. so how was i to be free from the fear if i was not guaranteed amnesty from the subject? i have questioned God about this and have found an answer: no matter what i must go through, God will give me the strength to endure it, even if the amount of strength i need is to not feel the pain. i have decided that He would be faithful in this, and since then i have not worried like i always did before. in this i am truly free.
so, to answer your question, i don't think i would permanently remove the ability to feel pain, although i do still ask God for protection, because i really don't want to test this. i just like to know within myself and be content with that.

Did you know that if you didn't feel pain, you could jump 30 feet into the air? Or more? If you don't believe me, look up why people are thrown when electrocuted by a near miss of a lightning bolt. Unfortunantly, using your body in this way often winds up tearing the tendons right off of your bones or other damage and leaves you in quite a terrible situation. Pain is the greatest limiting factor on human capability, because it prevents us from doing things that our bodies CAN do but probably cannot recover from.
There's no way I would go without pain. As mentioned before, pain is one of our most important senses - it alerts our body to harm and often prevents ourselves from causing damage that might be avoided. Without it, this damage would go unnoticed and your life would be significantly shortened. Sure, you might have fun for a week, but by it's end, you'd feel like a million bucks and need about that much to repair all the damage you'dve taken.

No I wouldn't because pain is just a reminder that your still alive. It would be nice in theory, but it just wouldn't be practical. I believe there are people that have damaged or were born with the part of the brain that controls the feeling of pain not functioning. Not sure about that though, I had a teachers aide in grade school tell me that. So its probably only worth a grain of salt. That would make for an interesting life.

No, I would not because how would you be able to tell if something was wrong with your body? You could see if you had a large gash or a bone was protruding from yourself, but what about your insides? The only way I knew that my gall bladder was bad and it needed to come out, were the intensely painful gutaches I had. Those gutaches saved my life...my doctor said that if another week had passed, and I had not come in, my gall bladder would have burst.

Absolutely not. Pain lets you know when you are working too hard, or not hard enough. Pain tells you when something in your body is ill or broken. It also lets you know you aren't dead yet! If you never felt pain, physical or mental, you would never appreciate how good it feels when it's gone.

No. Pain is an important signal that the body provides to alert you to sustained bodily harm.

No, absolutely not. Pain is one of the mechanisms that tell you that you are injuring your body, in order to prevent further injury.

Of course not! That is a stupid thing to do! Pain is to indicate if something is wrong with your body.
