My friend will play guitar and I will sing songs on a popular street downtown, and will ACCEPT (NOT ask for) money. What are some tips to help us seem cooler or cuter or just better in general, so that people will be more willing to give us money?

The answer Kittyrogers gave is more on target than any other advice to offer. Check with your community's Chamber of Commerce to see if there are any laws on the books that would prohibit such panhandling.

Panhandling is against the law in most cities, although often it is overlooked. I wouldn't count on very much cash and you really don't want to get arrested.

practice practice practice. people don't mind paying to be entertained as long as you are good at what you do. It adds so much culture to a region to hear street music. You guys are so cool. I wish I could play

Many cities require licenses for street performers (that's what you'll be). I would suggest looking into this before you worry about how cool or cute you seem.

a. smile a lot if you want to be cute : )
b. pretend you are on the stage and focus only on playing your music, if you want to play cool : )
c. don't dress in fine clothes, if you want people to pay you money on the street
d. be generous to say "thank you" or express thankfulness
e. enjoy what you are doing

I wouldn't give you any money regardless of what you were doing. If you have the net you most likely are able to find a real job.
