Why are we getting ripped off by manufactures, who set prices so high? Vat is less than most other euorpean countries, and they mostly earn more than us yet we still pay more than them for loads of things. Visitors to uk are shocked these days. It's time for a revolution. Why do we just sit and take it? We're paying too much for all the overpaid politicians, and the country is turning into a dump.

Taxes go into people like John Prescott's nice pension and back pocket - amongst other monies we have to pay out.

GREED I TELL YOU.

Revolution would be welcomed. It's time these politicians realised what utter c*nts they are for paying us a pittance and taxing us left right and centre til we've got nothing left.

I saw on the news the other day about inheritance tax - 40% over £250,000 - I mean what f*cking right have they got to take that money that was not earned - it was left to someone!! If I earned £250,000 a year like they do, I'd expect to pay taxes but not if my gran dies and leaves me everything. Greed.

It really infuriates and sickens me.

We are charged a lot more tax than some other countries like America, which does make goods more expensive in the UK. Also, as a whole Britain is a richer country than all other European countries except Germany. That means because rich people have more money they are willing to spend more on goods. This pushes the prices up for everyone because manufacturers obviously set their prices for maximum profit. We also have one of the highest minimum wages in the world. This means that any services that are labour intensive are expensive compared to the rest of the world.

Having said that the UK economy is reasonably efficient and things like financial services are relatively cheap due to competition.

Shop rent is VERY expensive in the UK. A typical shop of 3000 square foot costs around £70-80,000 a year minimum.

Add Council Tax @ £30,000 a year.

Add Electricity @ £10,000 a year (air-con 'aint cheap).

Add staff costs.

Add a margin for profit. ( Also taking into account theft )

Add VAT @ 17.5%

So there you go ...... who'd want to run a small, independant business?

It's because you are earning little money, you can change this if you want to earn more. things won't seem so expensive- you pay for what you get, we are very fortunate to live in this country- we pay taxes so we don't have to pay for operations, treatment, road maintenance ect. i think it is worth it but thats probably because i'm going to be earning more than lots of other people. We are lucky though and people just keep moaning about it, at least were not so poor we have to live on streets in poor countries ect.

there is a good number of very stupid solutions right here banging on approximately taxes yet forget one needed element. that's vacationers that warfare with cost adjustments, the dwelling standards of the respective electorate is regarding the comparable because of the fact the united kingdom has a a methods better wages fee. An Apple Mac is not greater fee-effective to a resident in ny as that's to a resident in York. I think of the vast majority of solutions are from unwell-recommended human beings as they point out the taxes in understand of healthcare. the quantity of contributions paid to healthcare is plenty decrease than US scientific coverage and has no bearing on the fee of purchaser products. AND btw is a a methods greater in many situations occurring of care than the U. S. device in accordance to WHO!

This is rubbish. The cost of living in the UK is broadly similar to the cost of living in similar countries. Some things are more expensive, other things are less expensive. If what you said was true, what is your theory for where all the money is going?

Its not the manufacturers , its the taxes on import , sales tax, and vat on sales.labour costs of retailers , fuel cost to move it around which is also very expensive because of tax. We are a highly taxed nation because we have a large civil service, national health service etc . TAX is the answer. CUT taxes and goods will be cheaper

We pay through the teeth for everything! I lived in Aussie for a number of years and was far better off over there - unfortunately due to family illness I had to come back. If I hadn't of gone over there I would have never of been able to afford my own house - so glad we went!

Here in the UK we brits are a soft touch, we just sit around and talk about it, let it happen and complain.
We never stand up for ourselves. Silly really we let the government do what they think is best but don't listen to the people who actually gave them the job andput them in their position in the first place...THE VOTERS. We pay their wages through rates, tax's and various charges but they don't listen to what we want.

So when's the revolution...i'll polish my gun! Oh sh** i forgot they put the TAX up on bullets!
