I have an illegal copy of Windows XP Pro and Microsoft sent me a program telling me that the copy is not genuine. Someone told me that I can still use the OS but I can't receive any updates of Microsoft. Is that true?

yea, no updates - but you can get sp2 from other places
windows updates just f things up most of the time anyway

as far as getting prosecuted no - just because it's not "genuine" is not legal basis for an investigation - think about it you got a trillian 0's and 1's - the fact that their software doesn't reflect there idea of what is genuine means nothing

No. Microsoft has announced the killswitch. As soon as microsoft finds out about this, your PC will restart without you telling it and you won't be able to log on in your account anymore. I suggest that you buy a genuine XP Pro Operating System.

Nothing good will come out of it, thats for sure. A few months ago, after I got those warnings, my hard disk crashed. Maybe its caused by a virus. So, I took the opportunity and bought an original copy of Windows XP. Its quite worth getting an original, gives you a peace of mind. =)
