There are people who have less than 3 months to live. How about forgetting about convincing your mother, and instead convince them to stay alive?
If you can do that, you'll have accomplished something really important. Otherwise, all you get is a hole in your lip with a ring in it, and a bunch of new graves.

Well, I have a daughter, she's not even a year old yet, but for her 16th birthday, if she asked me if she could get her lip pierced, there would be no way in hell she would ever convince me to let her do it.

Unfortunately, you will probably never convince her to allow you to get it done, but I understand that it's a huge craze at the moment and you want to feel like you are 'in the crowd'. It IS your face afterall, and eventually you will probably get it done with or without your mum's consent....i don't see that it's so bad, at least you're not asking to get a tattoo, that is permanent, you can always remove a piercing and it will only leave a tiny scar. Unfortunately if your mom is against this .. there will be no way of convincing her (take this from a mom).. I would wait until you are legal age and out of the home.

you cant really convince her, it's her choice. what you can do is do some research on shops find a clean one, find out about how to care for it, types of jewelry, any and all information you can and show this too her. Show her that you really want this and your trying to make an informed choice about it, and it can always be removed later

dont get one . they leave horrible ugly scars! if your going to get a piercing , get a tounge ring, at least then when your older and dont want it the scare wont be noticable! trust me , been there.. you will get over it in a few years

Are you an adult at 16? Until you are, if she doesn't want you to get one, then don't. You don't pay the medical bills if it goes badly.
