There is loads of stuff to do in Amsterdam that has nothing to do with drugs or sex. I've been 3 times and have deliberately avoided both of those things and had a fantastic time. There are great museums, canals to explore, cute little shops, Ann Frank museum, you can go on short train rides to the tulip fields. It's a great place, despite the drugs and sex. If you stay away from the red light area, you won't notice it. They have the cutest brown bars there. They are great to go in for a drink after a day of walking around. Very chilled.
Buy yourself a guide book and have fun!

Depends on if she likes city breaks.
There is more to Amsterdam than the stereotype. There are great sights and plenty places to see. Be warned though drinking can get quite expensive and the people don't tend to speak much English like most cities so you may want to learn a few phrases.

Amsterdam is a wonderful city with lots of things to see and do. As for English, I spent 1,5 years in Holland without learning a word of Dutch and never ever encountered problems.

Hi I went with my boyfriend for his b/day last year - I planned the trip. We both had a fantastic time. There is loads to do, the shops are amazing and the restaurants are brilliant. We avoided many cafes but you have to try it once!! When you go order 'Chocomilk' as it's delicious. We stayed in the gay area which was close to lots of things and had lovely food cafes. The only thing is that it's quite pricey there. We went to a lovely restaurant though where I had lobster and he had fillet steak, we had a bottle of wine and desserts andit cost £50 which was pretty good! Enjoy yourselves if you go.

Amsterdam is a place of wonderful culture....there is actually more to do than that and i think maybe your g/f will like a romantic break more than an hour with a hooker

There is much more to Amsterdam than girls and weed. Go and enjoy the sights and keep the other girls off her sight.

Hey it's the Netherlands! Progressive Europe! what's not to enjoy? Just because you can get drugs there or buy a whore, doesn't mean you have to do those things. Unless she wants to??
they have much culture to offer and it is also a clean and beautiful place. BTW, did you ask your girlfriend about this yet?

Hell, yes! Yes, you can find drugs and sex, but you don't have to! There's plenty of classical art if that's your thing, but the whole atmosphere is relaxed - it's a friendly safe-feeling place. You might want to keep her away from all the diamond shops, though!
