One of the ten commandments is "thou shalt not kill".
Abraham knew that God would provide and he assured his son Isaac that God would provide. (I did read something in the bible about that).
Jesus Christ was years after that still. There is a time-line in the bible and I think the ten commandments were written after Abraham's trip up the mountain with his son. (don't know for sure, wasn't there).
But consider the fact that Jesus had his time and place to accomplish his miracles and we still talk about that to this day. Jesus was a spiritual master or saviour or prophet or what-ever you want to call him. Jesus will not and has not been forgotten, debated, worshipped and sadly still to this day some people will verbally slaughter the man. His life was in no way a waste, and God knew that. Jesus was an example of what was, what is and what will be....foretold in the Bible and Abraham knew that.
Brilliant question!

In Isaac's case, God was testing Abraham. In Jesus' case, Jesus had to die as the perfect Lamb to take away the sins of the world. Without this sacrifice, no humans can be reconciled to God.

Are you serious?
God had Abraham offer up Isaac, so that he would know just how real and painful it is to kill your own son.
God wanted Abraham to have an appreciation of the work that God was going to do to save his people.
Abraham loved Isaac dearly, but God provided the ram for an offering. God endured the pain of killing his own son, so that neither Abraham, nor anyone else would have to.
Abraham's experience was a lesson. Christs was the actual sacrifice.

Abraham and his son Isaac were ordinary men who were sinners in respect of inherited sin. Jesus was God's son, a perfect man and NOT a sinner, Not having inherited sin from Adam and Eve.
Adam himself started out as a perfect man but BECAME a sinner through disobedience.

God was testing Abraham's faith in Him.
When man fell in the garden of Eden, the only way back to God was through the shedding of blood - that's why the fig leaves Adam and Eve sewed were insufficient. The fig leaves represent man's attempt to cover his sin. The animal skins God covered them with required the death of innocent animals to cover their sin. But that's all it did - COVER the sin.
The shed blood of Jesus BLOTTED OUT our sins. That was planned way back at the fall, and fulfilled when Jesus died such a brutal death. The really cool thing is that if the devil knew his torment and killing of Jesus would have bought our freedom, he never would have influenced those who crucified Jesus to do so.
The joke's on him! He gleefully wounded and killed our Savior...and yet the same wounds that he inflicted set us free!!
HAHA!!

Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ offered Himself up willingly so He could taste death for us,so that all who believe in Him He will also lead through the valley of death, as He is the good Shepherd. In other words He conquered death the last enemy to be destroyed.

1. It was fortold
2. God sacrificed his OWN son so that you and I could be forgiven of our sins. That's the gospel. Abraham was simply proving his allegiance to God. That's the difference.
