Why do I get teary eyed and to the point where I look very upset to the point where it looks like I want to cry when I speak to people that make me nervous? Is there any way to avoid this? and does anyone else have this problem?

I've had that happen a couple of times in the past. I would be OK at home and even while putting on my eye makeup I'd be dry-eyed. Then as soon as I went outside, my eyes would get pretty moist and by the time I was the supermarket or wherever, I'd be constantly dabbing my eyes with kleenex. It got only worse until it looked like I was simply crying and it was very embarrassing. I thought it was an allergy and tried eye drops, even stopped wearing eye makeup--no improvement. Then I went to my doctor because I thought it was an eye infection and it turned out to be a nasal infection! My doctor explained that the tear ducts of your eyes drain continuously through tiny ports at the bridge of your nose and go to different sinus cavities. Every time you blink the eye is remoistened and has to have an outlet. When you cry either the tears spill out of your eyes and run down your cheeks or you have to keep blowing your nose, right? It's a drainage system. So my nasal passages at the bridge of my nose were all clogged and he gave me an antibiotic, a nasal spray to reduce the inflammation and after about 10-15 days, I wasn't crying continuously. You should consider seeing a doctor if you aren't sneezing a lot, which would be more of an allergy problem. Good luck.

The reason might be physical, like an allergy. I think you ought to get a medical checkup.
