Yea-I would agree that they are-the role of taking pets brings on a motherly/maternal nature-a quality you may associate with being more in touch with feelings as women seem to articulate their feelings better than men, and are by nature maternal creatures.

The whole idea that pet owners talk, play, and enjoy their pets kind of plays off on the idea that they are open people, have a sense of who they are, and can be who they want to be with their pets and by that mean, be in touch with their feelings as you say.

A man's pet is his friend and friend's are great-it brings out the socialness I guess and with that the want to express feelings-all kinds of feelings.

No, I had come across man with pets, but unfeeling with their own old parents. Spend a thousand on his pets monthly, but refuse to spend a single cent on their parents.

Maybe.
But some use it as a trick to get chicks. One of the guys I know was entertaining the idea of getting a cute dog just for that purpose.
