Surely from a technological stand point we are more advanced, however I do not feel confident that we are really any more intelligent. I do not think our brains gained any mass in the last 1000 years or so. If anything, technology has been instrumental in turning us into the greedy, land and money hungry people we are. Technology gave us money and a system by which to convert it all around the globe. It also provided us the intelligence ( or lack thereof) to create weapons of mass destruction. So no I guess I feel like perhaps we should have left well enough alone. After all, it was not really broken...what did we really fix?

I don't think that we are smarter. We do use our intelligence in different ways.
We have added to our basic knowledge base so there is more to remember but we don't have to be as intuitive. When people in modern times construct a building, they use advanced engineering formulas to see if the foundation will hold. In biblical times, the architect had to just use his judgement based on his experience. Modern people could do no better than the ancients using the tools available at the time.
Computers are changing our needs as well. Just a few years ago, we had to keep all kinds of information ready in our minds. We could write things down but only the most organized person would have an indexing system to cover everything. Now computers handle most of the details. Mine checks my spelling and reminds me to buy birthday cards along with a multtude of other uses. I don't think that using the computer has changed my intelligence. However, over time, it may affect human intelligence through natural selection. It used to be that poor spellers and forgetful people earned less than others and were less desirable as a mate. That may change.
I do think that humans are evolving but I don't think that necessarily means smarter. Or dumber. I think it took very smart people to invent the astrolabe. It also took very smart people to invent GPS.

Smarter?
Now one that I know of has walked on water for over 2000 years!
Other than Christ, no one has gone to heaven on there own accord in over 4000 years!
We gain knowledge, we have big I.Q's
but smarter?

I think we are more educated, but not smarter. After about 40, I don't think people get smarter the older they get.

I doubt it. Increased nutrition and improved health have put less of an evolutionary premium on intelligence. Even a relative idiot can survive nowadays on dumpster-diving and public largesse -- and reproduce.

Societ-ally we are more advanced in our technology but more intelligent? Thats a tough one. We have learned how to kill each other faster and better, we are more violent. Somehow that does not define us as more intelligent. We are only more advanced as a species.

Yes, because we, today, invented manyy tacnological advances and without it, we won't be able to print out the facts and wonderful stories of the bible.

Having neat gadgets and book knowledge does not make one intelligent.
There is still war, still hatred, still fierce battles for scarce resources, still violence among those who worship God in different ways - I'd say we're about as stupid now as we were 3000 years ago.

In response to something along the lines of, "We know so much more than people did thousands of years ago," the poet T. S. Eliot replied, "Precisely, and they are what we know."
I don't think we're more intelligent. I just think that we know more stuff, thanks to the people who came before us.
