Reverse Blond Joke?

Bubba and Junior were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.

A woman walked by and asked what they were doing. "We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole," said Bubba, "but we don't have a ladder."
The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement and announced, "Eighteen feet, six inches," and walked away.

Junior shook his head and laughed. "Ain't that just like a dumb blonde! We ask for the height, and she gives us the length!"

I heard a version of this one in 1982 or '83, believe it or not. So, no, guys, he didn't make it up.

Here's the version I heard (which I had forgotten after all these years, until you came along):

It's a racist joke, so please bear with me.

A man passed by two Poles (the word they used back then was the racist "Pollocks")--anyway, two Poles who were standing over a fallen telephone pole with a tape measure. The guy then hears one of the Poles say, "Yup. It's one-and-a-half feet, all right."

So they guy asks them, "Hey guys, what are you doing?"

And one of the Poles replies, "Well, they asked us to measure how tall this telephone was, but we couldn't climb it to measure it. So we chopped it down to measure it right. It looked pretty tall when it was standing up straight, but now it's only 1 1/2 feet."

Get it? They measured the width as it was lying down.

But my favorite from back then was this one. I'll take the racism part out and just say it's a guy walking down the street.

A guy's walking down the street when he suddenly comes across a pile of something.

He looks down at it. "It *looks* like shitt."
He puts his nose over it. "It *smells* like shitt."
He sticks a finger out, swipes the shitt with it and puts it in his mouth. "It *tastes* like shitt."

Then he straightens up, takes a step around it and looks back at the shitt: "Gee, I'm sure glad I didn't *step* in it."
