Though many won't like the answer, people will have to start realizing that even the book of Revelations is Jewish.

Basically what this verse says is those who obey God's commandments get the reward. God's commandments are found in Torah (the first five books). Even though Christianity teaches they aren't under God's Law, the truth says only those who obey God's commandments will be blessed.

It means that God will bless those that obey his commandments. Those that do will have a place in Heaven with God where there is no unhappiness, sin, loneliness, hunger, sickness, hatred. The "tree of life" means eternal- no more death, and city is "Heaven".

It means that we are saved by doing His commandments? No ..... we are only saved through Christ Jesus, not by works lest any man boast. It means we are made righteous or( made right) through Jesus and will partake from the tree of life and live with God forever in His heavenly kingdom.

My interpriation is that those who do God's will have inharited His kingdom like he said they would.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. "

Matthew 7:21

What I do when I have problems like the one you posted about though is ask God to help me understand and to grant me the wisom to.

It is obviously metaphorical (as is much of the rest of that book). It promises some sort of benefits to those who do as god ordains (whatever that is).
