Yes, it is possible to become addicted to both Pepsi and Coke. The high caffeine and sugar levels alone make them two of the most addictive drinks money can buy - and that's before the chemical additives like Aspartame and Acesulfame - K and saccharin are taken into account.

Saccharin is the likeliest culprit behind your headaches - if any member of my family drinks a saccharin - laced drink, we get colossal headahces that last for hours, even sometimes all day.

These artificial sweeteners have universally been cleared by the FDA, in spite of totally inadequate research on the part of the manufacturers - but while their effects on health have yet to be proved either way, no research has ever been done on their addictiveness, either singly or combined. Nobody knows what the long term effect is.

All I can tell you is that the only way to kick the habit is to go cold turkey, which can be as bad as quitting cigarettes or alcohol. The only other thing I recommend is 2.5 litres of water, daily, to help flush out the lingering additives and additive byproducts in your bloodstream. It won't stop the headaches, but it will help make them go away sooner.

The good news is, you don't need to have the water neat. You can get all the water you need from drinking the equivalent volume in fruit juices.

I recommend grape juice.

No I do not have that problem, as I do not drink it.
First you can be hooked to the sugar in the Cola as there is about 10% sugar in it. Later on you'll become fat and will have Diabetes, that's for sure. Don’t think that Juice is better, there might be too much sugar in that too – just too make you hooked on that too. If you have seen the dirty production line there they make juice, you will never drink it, I promise you.
There was once or still is a precursor to a substance which will be and effective tranquilizer when the substance has passed through your liver, Now you have got used to it and must have it otherwise you will become nervous.
The very same substance can start a very severe illness in your liver called Porphyry.and when you have got it you can’t get rid of it.
The caffeine may give you headache both if it is too much and when you have too little when you got used to it. Coffee and pure sugar dehydrates you body and you will be more thirsty - drink water.

Yes it is possible and at the same time is possible to let the habit go. Did you know that each can of pepsi has sugar equivalent to 40 tea spoon of sugar. Sugar is good for the body but to a certain extend. Ask your self what benefits do I have from being hooked and what am I lossing at the same time. Compare the two and choose right. It starts with convincing your mind that you want to stop and you cut off bit by bit everyday until you are off it completely. Good luck and May God bless you as you quit pepsei.

It's not the soda, it's the caffeine in the soda. I take it none of you are coffee drinkers, if you were, you wouldn't miss the soda because you would still get caffeine from the coffee. Caffeine is quite addictive. I know if I go for a day without it I start getting headaches and get cranky, just like you described. As soon as I take a few sips of Diet Coke, though, I'm good.

It's not the coke...its the caffeine. You just like it in the form of pepsi and coke. My best friend drinks like 10 cokes a day. I barely drink 1 every month. It's better for you if you cut back, you'll just have to deal with everyones attitudes. You could always try something a little more healthy with caffeine...like tea.

I have 4 can's of Pepsi Max a day. Even though it has no sugar, I know it still couldn't be doing me any good. It was so hard to stop drinking it when I was pregnant I got alot of headaches at first. I think you just have to bite the bullet and put up with the headaches... they will eventually go away.

Yes I believe so, but not quite to the level that your family is experiencing. I used to drink at least one Pepsi a day, but had to cut back because of my recent diagnosis of diabetes.............. I still drink it but only maybe two or three times a month......... :(
