Usually, Microsoft Excel moves cell position when you press the arrow keys. But a computer I used at work didn't do this, it moved the scrollbar when I press the arrow keys. And now, my version at home moves the scrollbar too. (Could this have been communicated to my home computer via a spreadsheet?)

Anyway, I'm looking to understand it so I can change the setting back to navigating cells via arrow keys.

Scroll lock is on. You just need to turn it off. In the past, when mouse was not a essential part of the pcs, turning on scroll lock allowed the users to scroll through the documents. Nowadays, it is totally useless.

Turn off your scroll lock. This is a very common problem I have found in the workplace, people get very upset that their computer is "broken"!!! Now you know the secret, you can pass it on.

Soon the whole world will be aware of the scroll lock button which is actually never used for anything. Perhaps this worldwide knowledge will filter down to the guys who make keyboards and they'll finally take it away!

I think you need to turn off scroll lock. It's one of the keys on your keyboard.
