Sorry to say, the teaching that Jesus' death replaced any part of God's Law is a mistake. In fact his life and death supported God's Torah. The only law that was replaced was the law of the Pharisees. One reason is that people can't find mercy or grace in the Law of the Pharisees, but one does find mercy and grace in God's Torah, His Law.

Yeshua himself said in Mat 5:17 that he didn't come to abolish God's Law or the Prophets. Therefore anyone who teaches that his death replaced a part or all of God's Law is teaching a falsehood and making their Jesus a liar.

So, in short, all of Torah is still in effect - dietary laws, Feast Days, the 10 commandments, all the other 603 commandments.

In the letters of St Paul, it is noted that the "law of God is written in the tablets of the human heart."" ( that means your conscience) For example, Even in cultures where cannibalism is practiced, no one eats his own tribe member or family member. (Law against murder.)In the same Book of Acts (New Testament) Peter is given a dream about what is clean and unclean in the way of food. During this passage, dietary laws for Christians were abolished. Actually, I believe Jesus, in another part of the Bible, states that it is not "what goes into a man through his mouth that makes him unclean,....b ut what comes out of his mouth....." In other words, what he says and does will be judged rather than on what he eats.
The 10 commandments are guides for living and have not been revised, edited or discarded. They are still standards by which thinking people form a relationship with God, with family and with their neighbor.

Sin is the willful desire or completion of an act or the omission of an act that is in direct opposition of God's law. Example; to have money can be a good thing; however if it was obtained by causing great suffering to someone else, denying the needs of others and hoarding it for ones own selfish pleasure, then that can become sin.

Sin is doing anything that is against Heavenly Fathers laws.

Jesus Christ did not sin because he always obeyed Heavenly Father. The law was still in play during Christ's life, but he understood the law and it's true meaning when others didn't.

Some laws are not "in play" . The law of moses is fulfilled and it is no longer required to be followed. A new law was given. 10 commandments are still in play but are more strict generally speaking. Instead of sacrificing animals, we are commanded to sacrifice a broken heart and a contrite spirit. The Dietary laws have changed.

God gave us the law to basically show us that we sin; so we can see right from wrong. When Jesus died on the cross , He paid the penalty for sin (the wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23). He also was the ultimat sacrifice, which is why we don't have to sacrifice, since that was to be a "cover-up" for our sin. Some of the other laws were for the Jewish custom, & we don't have to practice them. The 10 commandments are still in effect, as so is right & wrong. We still need to ask forgiveness of our sins, & try to do better but Jesus paid the price for them that we could never pay. So all we have to do now is except that free gift of salvation in return of the penalty He paid for our sins.

egyptsprince is WAY off base here, Sin is the gathering of deeds, acts, words, thoughts that destroy you from within (your soul) it is going against the Word of God. And if you read the New Testament Yahshua did say that He was not here to change or break the law but rather to support it. Yahshuas' sacrifice was to replace the daily sacrifice of the blood of bulls and goats. But the dietary laws were for priests and the feast days are for forever. In the book of exodus and deuteronomy it is stated clearly by Yahweh that these things are a sign of a covenant between you and me FOREVER. They are not done away with they have been replaced with our pagan holidays that are not supported by scripture.

Jesus said that those who believed in Him and followed His two commandments were free from the LAW! His commandments are: Love GOD. Love one another as I have loved you.

To love means that you do not require the commandments, because if you love, you will never violate any of the commandments.

Those that do not believe in Jesus are bound by the LAW, the Ten Commandments. Where do you think we get our civil laws from? Which civil law does not has its root in at lest one of the Ten Commandments?

At the highest level of human experience, we are called to love one another. We are our brothers keeper.

Every WAR, RAPE, THEFT, ROBBERY, LIE, BROKEN HOME,
GREED, DECEIT, ACTS of CORRUPTION are transgressions against the LAW. Love has never held hands with any of the above.

Too, there are no laws governing LOVE. No LAW tell you it must be this much or that much LOVE. No LAW tells you when or where or at what time, to love. There are no portions of love.

What is SIN? SIN is any act against you that is unjust. Any act that I do to you that violates the nature of human beings. Or simply put, any action against or for you that violates LOVE!

Sin is disobeying God. So the Law is still inplay today. As far as what laws to obey.... the laws that you are refering to are found in the Old Testiment and were used to tell man wether he was clean or unclean in the sight of God. IE good or bad. But when you look in the New Testiment...

"Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, 'Listen and understand. What goes into man's mouth does not make Him 'unclean', but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean'"
Matthew 15:10-11

As you continue looking through the New Testiment especially the Gospels you find that sin is not just about obeying a set of rules that is a religion that is fruitless. What God is looking for is the intent of our hearts and our life style to glorify Him. That's what makes it a personal relationship.

Sin is anything that disrupts your right relationship with God. The original meaning of the term Jesus uses in the Aramaic is "missing the mark" Most of the sinful behavior listed in the Bible is the most egregious and obvious sort of sinning. We were each given a moral conscience, and if it is trained correctly with proper religious and moral training, your conscience can alert you immediately when you are trespassing near something that would cause you to sin, and it can help you identify sin you have committed with inner guilt.
