If you have a medical emergency, a hospital is required to treat you enough to sustain life, and minimize injury whether you have money or not. However, if you goto the ER for withdrawl symptoms all they will do it tell you that you need help and send you on your way. It sucks, but, thats the truth. You could goto the health department and ask for help, but, unfortunately there arent alot of free programs like that. I do wish you the best of luck though. Try gum, cigs, candy, and activities, you need to start going to NA meetings immediately! They can help you! Good luck.

First of all I want to wish you luck. I hope you take control of your life back and succeed in dealing with your addiction.

There are many government programs to help the addicted. You are in a situation that may require immediate help and do not be afraid to go to the ER if you feel you need to.

Not only will they help you but they will refer you to the programs you need.

Not sure where you live but lots of places have a Narcotics Anymomous Hotline.

I'm glad you have not taken your 30 "painkiller pills" today. Presuming they cost you at least $2 each (they can't be aspirin or NSAIDS like aspirin, aleve, tylenol, since you can't take 30 of those a day), you will save a lot of money.

Get help from NARCANON or any organization trying to help addicts.

You can go to a hospital emergence room and they will check your general health and make sure that you don't need to be admitted. They'll charge you if you have money (and, maybe, even if you don't.) But you do need help.

I would consider seeing a doctor who treats addicts or even any doctor just to make sure that your health is OK.

Best of luck in your abstinence, but, without help, you will relapse.

If you walk into an ER, they have to treat you, whether you have money or not, whether it is a life-threatening emergency or not. However, trying to go cold turkey after a 2 year drug habit of that magnitude could be life-threatening. The worst they can do is tell you you have to continue doing what you're doing right now.

sure, call a doctor, talk with a nurse, anyone who can refer you to a place where you can get help. I don't think walking into an emergency room and asking for help will get you help, you can try it, but don't be frustrated if they can't help you. Probation officers also know how to refer you to a place to detox you. Even a psychologist probably would help you...but don't wait for them to call you back...continut to want to speak with a doctor or nurse or probation officer directly.
