I would just like to hear how your children are doing.... Scholars? Athletes? Adventurers? Slackers? I'm curious about results. I always hear the pros and cons breast feeding vs. bottle, but never any results.

I am wondering if anything to worry about in bottle feeding our child after only 3 months of breastfeeding. Please I am not really interested in politics, just curious if the children are doing good, are they smart? Leaders? Followers? Brats? Spoiled? Anything. Mostly looking for parents whose children are at least 6 and up, longer term results.

I'm quite sure the answers lie in the parenting and how you educate your children, but I have this anxiety to find out if any indifference or clues. Does this make sense?

My oldest son was bottle fed. He is now in 6th grade. He plays baseball on an All Star team. He is on student council and has made honor roll every grading period for his entire school life. He is def a leader. He is the type that would make friends when we went to a park, even as a young child. He has been in good health for most of his life. He was also a preemie.

My other 3 boys were breastfed. The second and third son have asthma. My third son has very severe allergies and has to get 2 shots a week. I don't think that breastfeeding really had anything to do with it. Personally, I think that it should be a personal choice. I have nursed 3 kids and I still roll my eyes at the breastfeeding "Nazis". I really hate when people try to make you follow their way of parenting. Do what is comfortable to you!

Oh and BTW, when I asked my Dr why my oldest was in the best health and he was bottle fed, he told me that breastfeeding do NOT guarantee good health. It just provides more antibodies to help. In other words, breastfeeding helps keep them from getting any worse than they are. So don't feel pressured one way or the other. And if you guys decide to try nursing, even a few weeks is beneficial.

Good Luck!

Well, my daughter is almost 4, not as old as what you were looking for but anyway. She was bottle fed and she is very smart and active. She knew colors by age 2, almost the entire alphabet (picking out letters at random from flashcards not just singing her ABCs), numbers 1-10, and shapes by age 3 and can recite her phone number, address and can spell her whole name. I hope I don't sound like I'm bragging but I taught preschool for several years and have a day care in my home (on vacation currently) and this is not typical of 2 and 3 year olds. They can usually pick out the first letter of their name and usually know colors and some shapes. My daughter is very well behaved, which in my opinion has absolutely nothing to do with what children eat but how they are raised. She is very independent, friendly with other children, loves to sing and dance and has more upper body strength than I do. So no, I don't buy into the whole breastfed children are better attitude. My child is just as talented and intelligent as any child her age, if not slightly more so, but then again all parents think that. I think whatever you deem is best for your child and family is what is best. Don't let other's ignorant and biased opinions sway what you feel is important for your family. Good luck with your new baby!

I bottle fed all three of my kids. I don't see any adverse effects. They are 17, 6, and 4 years old. They all learn pretty easily and are healthy and happy. My oldest daughter has had sinus problems, but no other health issues. My 6 year old has only been sick once, it was a stomach flu, he has never taken antibiotics. My youngest has also never taken antibiotics. Being spoiled has to do with how you raise your kids not with them being breast or bottle fed. As far as weight, none of them have weight problems. My oldest and youngest are both leaders and very outgoing and my middle child is a little shy and more reserved.

My daughter was fed Carnation formula. She is just like any other child. She has her strengths and weakenesses. She excels in athletics, art, and music. She is an above average student. She cares about people close to her, cares about animals. She misbehaves, test boundaries, challenges things she doesn't understand. She is rarely sick(colds, flu, etc). She eats healthy. She is on the thinner side but that is from genetics, still way with the normal range.

I don't feel that she would have been any better off if breast fed.

My 17 year old was an athletic A+ student. I breast fed him for a couple months but I don't think the bottle had any affect on his outcome. If anything I'd say junk in rubbish out. Formula isn't junk.

well, my doctor told me while is was pregnant that just breatfeeding while i was in the hospital would be alot of help to my son, so 3 months is probably really good, but i dont think breast or bottle feeding would determine weither ur child is a leader or a spoiled brat i think its how they are rasied honestly, i mean, they say breatfeeding helps the brain and body develope better, but i dont think it really changes how there personality it gonna be... my sister breatfeed her daughter until she was 6 months old and i didnt breatfeed my son, and they are only a month apart and there just about the same, she is a lil bigger (b/c she is a lil older) but they both are the average height, weight, and there both right one schdule w/ there learning so i dont really know if there is much of difference, but yeah, i told you everything that i know lol, good luck w/ figuring out what you need too!!

i breastfed my eldest, my middle breast and bottle due to getting thrush and it being very painful to feed her myself so she went onto a bottle at six months and my last a girl was bottle fed from birth. they are all intellegant healthy young adults my last child is not fat none of my children are as long as a baby is fed it dosent matter weather its via breast are bottle happy baby happy mum. i would hate to see a unhappy mum and baby because she was pressured into breastfeeding what i found exclusively breastfed babies wont entertain a bottle for no amount of coaxing andd youre stuck in 99% of the time because there are very few breastfeeding friendly places

Bottle fed both my kids I have one honor student and both of them are very active in sports. They are kind healthy respectful children. It doesnt have anything to do with how they were fed. It's how they were raised.
