A better question is "What is God?". This is a question that humankind has been debating and contemplating since we first gained self awareness (realized we were alive and could think for our selves). You can argue that your God, whatever religion you believe in, is the one true God. And that right there is where most people get it wrong. And that's not to say that I've got it right.
From a scientific approach we know about the law of conservation of matter and energy (They can neither be created nor destroyed, only transfered or transformed). All living things are comprised of both matter and energy. Some people contend that human consciousness is actually part of the original devine energy. And seeing as most religions believe that God is in everything, it's a small leap of faith to believing that when we die we'll have the opportunity to rejoin the devine collective consciousness, or in other words, God.
Logically I know that I can't make something from nothing. So where did the first ingredients for the universe come from if not from God? Basically what I'm trying to say is that God is beyond human comprehension. All you have to know and have faith in is that without Him or Her we wouldn't exist. End of story

Who is God, the One that stood there and rolled stars off of His hands, and rolls worlds out of His hands, and made the things which do not appear: Deity. Our heavenly Father is God. Our God is a consuming fire. If God isn't God, Who is God then? Christ is God Emmanuel. God is the Word made manifest. "If he isn't God, then find out Who is God and then serve it." But surely it can be seen that Jesus made this very clear that it was He and He alone Who is God and it is He and He alone Who is coming into the believer. II SAMUEL 22:32
32 For who [is] God, save the LORD? and who [is] a rock, save our God? PSALMS 18:31

God is the end result of a failed search for truth by a very shallow mind, provided that any search was made at all instead of swallowing the pile of delusional bilge that was spoon fed to you as a child
