As a business owner myself, I network with other business owners and fast food industry is not the only business with this problem. I cannot believe the lack of dedication and loyalty from employees in all business's. And it isn't because the companies aren't treating their employees well. It just seems that people don't want to work anymore. People just don't care anymore. We are a spoiled nation and people treat jobs as disposable. No wonder so many jobs are sent to other countries to be performed. Sent to countries where a person is so thankful to have the job. Sorry about the ranting but it's rare to hear about people staying at their jobs for 20+ years anymore. Guess we (as a Country) make it too easy for people to not have to work.

Not only is it the manager's fault, but there is little to no incentive. People don't have pride if they are just another number working to satisfy people's gluttony. If I am working for minimum wage as a grease spoon restaurant, and people poop all over my job and treat me like trash, and I have little to no education, why would I have quality in the food. I have no self esteem or respect for myself. Generally, fast food restaurants hire just about anyone. That means that their quality of people is low, so people who have a better education or higher goal in life dont usually apply. There is also a huge huge huge turn-around rate at a fast food restaurant. So that also plays a key role in customer service. If you are a drug user and worried that you will fail your next pee test, then why care about quality? It just becomes a way to make money, not glory or satisfaction. In other countries it is different, for example, in Japan fast food workers are more proud of what they do. They know it is a low end job and that they might end up leaving the job, but they still want to sell themself and have customers happy and satisfied. Strict management and quality people help build this service into giving people the service they expect from fast food. So with that in mind, dedication really declines for fast food restaurants, especially in areas where less is expected of an individual. In some areas, all you have to do is apply for the job and you have it. No screening, no interviews. The harder you work for a job, the harder a job works for you. And if you have such low effort, then your enviroment will be low and quality will suffer, along with customer satisfaction. The price of instant satisfaction, I guess.

I will tell you what pisses me off, and for some reason this happens a lot (especially at Wendy's). Before I have even driven up to the 2nd window, they are holding my bag of food out like I'm supposed to just drive by and grab it! Other times, when I get up to the window, they thrust my food at me without even LOOKING at me. If I happen to sit there (because I want ketchup or whatever) they give me major attitude.....I wish I didn't depend on drive throughs so much, I would love to avoid them alltogether if I could!

i think american youth and or older people are just plain lazy and even though they work at fast food they are demanding of what they want and what the "deserve". Maybe Starbucks and Jack in the Box are doing it right, by giving people a sense of belonging (giving chances to buy their own shares, motivation that works, incentives and real belonging on the job)..... i don't know....all i know is my husband tried to get people to work for him that were on unemployed services and none of them worked like the needed money. They wanted this and that.... and yet... HELLO, you are unemployed!!... try doing whatever it takes to make some money for your family, etc.

This is a sign of poor management. The managers should work to ensure the customer is receiving good service, which includes receiving the correct item.
