My sister's wedding is in 2 weeks and I'm the maid of honor. I still haven't had my dress altered! Can I get it altered in time for the wedding?

Depends on how much work you need done and the type of dress. My bridemaid dress was 3 sizes too big (despite supposedly being made to my measurements!). Because it was so big, it needed 4 seams to be taken in as well as having the boning re-shaped. The work will take 2 weeks and will involve 3 fittings.

Most places I looked at quoted 2-3 weeks for alterations. Some places offered express service of 1 week but you have to pay an express fee (usually around 25% of cost of alterations).

It should be possible to get the alterations done in 2 weeks. Phone around and check with tailors. Be very descriptive when you speak to them about what work needs to be done. Let them know your deadline and most people will understand the importance of making sure they get it done by then.

Sure! Take it to your local tailor. Be sure to bring the shoes you'll be wearing with the dress. You'll have to try the dress on and they'll pin it. It will take about a week to get it back!

Don't stress! It'll get done! Good luck!

I like the answer that says "with money you can get anything done..." But if you don't want to pay out the nose, you should give about 3 wks notice...you are @ two weeks now...CALL A TAILOR NOW! TODAY! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

it only takes a week or so but make sure that whereever you take it knows the date u need it by.it would be horrible if it wasnt ready in time.you should be able to find a place to have it done in time make sure to call around to get the best and earliest time possible and have fun.

Maybe. You need to call a tailor immediately and ask if they can squeeze it in.

Why didn't you do this earlier?
