The ceremonial law. The laws that dealt with the covering of sin. All the moral laws are still in play, however the civic laws of the old testament are only in play if one is a citizen of the nation of Israel.

What you see is not as real as God. What you see should prove to you their is a God. If you try and tell me we just became without a creator then you need to go rethink some things. Ask an athiest How the whole universe came about to exist and I mean every galaxy and every star, also the ones still forming. Ask how the earth has one set speed it to turn and one set speed to rotate around the sun. Also the sun is just at the right distance for life to be sustained here on earth which includes billions of diverse lifeforms (That according to athiest just popped out of nowhere or crawled out of the Ocean). Where did the Ocean come from then?. Also ask them to get an empty glass and set it up in their house and go back to the glass 20 or 30 years or more if needed and see whats in it..........you know what would be in it? Still nothing. You have to have a Creator and it scares them. Also for the big bang theory supporters........where did the material that went bang come from and the energy to make it go BANG? I'll tell you God created it and he may have made a "BIG BANG" out of it to put it where he wanted it. I won't dispute that because the Universe is still expanding. All in all the athiests have to many questians to explain themselves that the Bible already explains. I'd rather believe there is a God and die and if there isn't I lose nothing but if there is and I've argued to people he isn't then I would lose alot. Think it over friend. Are you really sure about denying God?

The only law I know of he "replaced" was the law of the blood sacrifice for atonement of sin. At the moment of his death, the vail was rent in two. Up until that time, it was necessary to have the highest, most holy priest (originally it was AAron, Moses' brother:see Exodus 28) intercede on your behalf, and once a year he would offer this sacrifice up for atonement (see Exodus 30:10). When the vail was rent, it was no longer necessary to use ANYONE as an intercessory to the throne of GOD but Jesus, himself. Jesus did not come to replace any law but to fulfill it.

Leviticus 17:11 The Law of blood sacrifice
Hebrews 9:22 The Messiah's fullfillment of the Law
"Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin".
You are correct, Christ did not obliterate the Law. He lived completely true and faithful to His law. He never intended nor implied that He was a replacement of the Law or anything else.
Unfortunately, you and I are incapable of 100% faithfulness to the Law. He has purchased for us, through His blood sacrifice, the restoration of our relationship with Father God. The Ten Commandments are vital to our faith-life. They are a constant reminder of our need for a Savior. This is one reason why the enemy of our souls wants the commandments reomved from all public display. They scream out to all of us that we are all failures! We have all fallen short of God's law, and the only remedy is the blood of the lamb of God: Jesus the lifegiver.
Thanks for a great question!

hbtm13,
You are mistaken according to my Bible.
You are acting according to those Judaizers that perverted the Gospel.
Paul knew the difference;
Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
And as Paul said to Peter when Paul withstood him to the face:
Galatians 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
And outlined the distinction of the Gospel from the old way:
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
So your arguement is not with Christians, but with the Bible. I will side by it and God.

He absolutely replaced no law by his death. Even the laws on sacrificing animals are still in effect.
Mat 5:17 Do not think that I came to annul the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to annul, but to fulfill.
Mat 5:18 Truly I say to you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, in no way shall one iota or one point pass away from the Law until all comes to pass.
Mat 5:19 Therefore, whoever relaxes one of these commandments, the least, and shall teach men so, he shall be called least in the kingdom of Heaven. But whoever does and teaches them, this one shall be called great in the kingdom of Heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say to you, If your righteousness shall not exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of God, never!
Luke 16:17 But it is easier for the heaven and the earth to pass away than one point of the Law to fail.
Also, remember the New Covenant is the Law in our hearts and minds:
Hebrews 8:10 Because this is the covenant which I will covenant with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord, giving My Laws into their mind, and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
and also, we are not to add or subtract to God's Holy Law:
Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you.
The only reason animals are not sacrificed today is because the Temple is not standing, but when it is rebuilt, sacrifices will be in effect and must be performed to avoid sinning. Remember sin is transgression of the Law:
1 John 3:4 Everyone practicing sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
As, you can see, the Law is for all time for every man and will be the one standard in which everyone is judged. The great apostasy is lawlessness which is saying that the Law is done away with.

I agree with 'egyptsprince' Jesus came to end the law of sacrifice, once and for all time. By the supreme sacrifice of His body on the cross, He replaced the practice of offering sacrifices for sins committed by us. Other than that, He said that He came to fulfill the law and not to change or replace it. In Him, all the demands of the laws are met and the one who accepts Him, need not fear the law as those laws are not in force and they are not applicable anymore. Mankind is guided by the laws metamorphosed into two main laws. Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself. If we obey these two and follow them, everything falls in place automatically.

According to many, Jesus' death and resurection replaced any other type of sacrifice as in the Old Testament. He was supposed to be the final sacrifice for all.

You are crackin me up here, Pastor Bumble Barty! Jesus came to FULFILL the law. And, since you think the law is 'still in play' you will be judged by the 'laws' you do not obey to the nth degree! Good luck. HEY! Do I smell flesh burning?
