Exodus 20:12 ( the 5th commandment if you're a Protestant & the 4th Commandment if you're a Catholic): "Honor your father & mother, that you may have a long, good life in the land the Lord your God will give you." It's actually an Old Covenant (Jewish) law. In the New Testament Paul says that honoring your parents is the first commandment (Ephesians 6:2) that ends with a promise of a long life full of blessing. Young people who refuse to obey their parents' advice may have their lives snuffed out earlier if they acquire unhealthly habits or get into trouble with the law.

it rather is extremely stated interior the Bible itself. Peter and Paul had a controversy approximately it. Paul gained. Christians have self assurance that Christ presented a clean dispensation, a clean covenant with guy, and that the old Jewish regulations and standards no longer had to be obeyed. the concern got here to a head over circumcision and weight loss plan, via fact Gentiles weren't susceptible to transform to Christianity if the lads had to be circumcised and that all of them had to offer up certan meals. It replaced into argued that that this replaced into no longer mandatory, that the recent dispensation did no longer require obeying the old regulations. The old testomony does not forbid ingesting alcohol. Wine, in actuality, is a component of rather some Jewish rituals and holidays. Christians did forbid lending at pastime for some centuries (it proved to be impractical). Christians keep a Sabbath, they do exactly it on a diverse day. Christians would have a factor that Jesus replaced into reason on deemphasizing Jewish regulation. in my opinion, he replaced into attempting to reform his very own faith, no longer got here across a clean one, yet there is a few reason to have self assurance that he replaced into advocating a miles less inflexible, much less regulation-certain version of Judaism.

I think it was honor your father and mother???? But all sin causes death so I'd say obey ALL the ten commandments. Also, in the new testament Jesus kinda summed up the ten commandments in two rules. 1. love the lord your god. and 2. love your neighbor as yourself. It's said several times and it's worded a little differently each time but that's basically it. So yeah, there ya go.
God bless you, my friend.

In John 13:34 Jesus said, "I give you a new command: love each other. You must love each other as I have loved you." Jesus repeated this many times and referred to it as the greatest of all commands.

Exodus 20:12 (King James Version) "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."
(Contemporary English Version) "Respect your father and your mother, and you will live a long time in the land I am giving you."
The only reason that the Bible gives for this promise is that God said it.

The First: Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. If you confess your sins and believe in God with all your heart you will live for an eternity. There's nothing in the ten commandents to keep you on earth longer.

Following the ten commandment will help you live a full life. If you don't follow most of them, you'll just ruin your life. They just make sense.
