how can i tell if a wall is holding part of the ceiling up, what i mean is i have a wall between my kitchen and living room with just a doorway in between but what i wanna do is tear the wall down to make a open concept from my living room to my kitchen ny ideas what to do

what i mean by doorway is french doors wanna remove the whole wall in between my kitchen and livingroom to have a open concept but what im asking is will the ceiling collapse

You would have to go into the ceiling to see if the wall is a weight bearing wall. Sometimes you can refigure and put the weight on a new placewith addition of more joists and such but you really need to know your business! You can also just leave a column or two to support the ceiling and still have your open area. Good luck!

just tear down the wall and put in a header, it will help support the ceiling from caving in, my sister did this in her house. she wanted the kitchen and dinning room to be one, but she put in a breakfast bar too, it looks awsome! Then all you have to do is put in some trim work!

yes, you will have to look in the attic (or whatever is above the ceiling in those rooms to see .
