Throughout history, writers have attempted to explain various things in the bible. If you were watching the same program which I did, then you also saw the books concerning Enoch, Mary, and several other such attempts.

The rise of these books may explain the inflexabilty of people to take the bible as anything except the literal truth, and reject anything which cannot be taken directly from the cannonized books.

Jubilees is at odds with the books of Adam and Eve. The protevangelion of Mary places more importance on the mother of Jesus than the church would likely want her to have. But many ot the cannonized books have similarly been edited to try to create a logical narritive.

It is actually a piece of writing that is jsut as old as any other piece of scripture but was not acceptable to the people who put the Bible together in the early church becasue it harmed their views and greatly diminished what they wanted the people to do. It was not what the institution of Christianity wanted at the time. It was too mind blowing and revolutionary. In theory it could be just as plausible as any other part of the Bible. It is confusing and what happened when the church became something that was obsessed with holding on to the power over the lives of the people rather then finding new followers. We will never know what is true and what wasn't. It is things like this that make Jesus cry because people are exploiting things that the people need to determine for themselves so that they can hold power over these peopel rather then being content that these people are coming to the faith.

There was a significant amount of literature that was not put into the Bible. The Bible already has two creation stories. Adding another is too confusing. There are at least a dozen written sources credited in the Bible that no longer exist.

Jubilees was a likely source of inspiration for the Koran. What I like is when you get the question who did Cain marry, you can name her (Awan).

Why would you find that funny, since it's a part of history? If you saw the entire program you as well saw the lost books. Many do not know that they were published and studied long ago and not until the 20th century was it allowed to get published.
