1.)The two most important eposure controls are the shutter speedand aperture becuase btoh affect the total amount of light reaching the image sensor. They are also creative controls you have.
2.)You should normaly want to avoid blur in your images there are times when you may want to use it creatively.
3.)The thumb is never to hand-hold the camera at a shutter speed lower than your lens' focal length. For example, when using a 35 mm lens you can use a shutter speed of 1/30. When using a 200mm lens, you should increase the shutter speed to at least 1/250.
4.)When taking a photo without support, brace the camera against your face. Just before taking a shot, inhale deeply, then exhale and hold your breath while smoothly pressing the shutter button down.
5.)Self-timer is also a great way to redce blur when photographing in dim light.
6.)Sensitivity is usually specified as an ISO setting just as the speed of film is. Increasing the camera's sensitivity or ISO means less light is needed for a pic. so you can use a faster shutter speed to freeze action or reduce blur caused by camera movement.
7.) Slight movement is enough to cause blur
So that is what I have to say for tips and now for to help you do some editing on the computer you will need to get a specific c.d. such as Photo Imapct Pro. Version 11 which works really good because I do a lot of photography myself and well lately ever since I had that c.d a lot of friends, family and not even mine, everyone at the church I go to, my family, and even older people compliment about my pic. ever since I used that c.d. So yah that is what I have to say about your question and also that was a very good question to ask and I also know this stuff even though I'm only 14 I am studying it now so it will help me in the future have a great time trying to do some or all the tips I gave you. HAVE FUN!!!!

Here's a really sweet thing I've done with my camera before and I want to try again. One pitch black night there was a very electrical thunderstorm building on the horizon, but it hadn't reached me yet. I mounted my camera on a tripod outside and pointed it in the direction of all the lightning strikes. I set the aperture at about half open and set the shutter speed for 30 seconds (the slowest speed my camera does besides b-setting). Then I just kept taking 30 second pictures. Whatever lightning struck in those 30 seconds all appeared on the same picture, and in most cases, it was multiple strikes. This only works when it's very dark outside because otherwise the picture would turn out too light.

take a photography class. practice. learn the developing process so you know what exactly is going into your picture. dark room development is the best! not only is it fun but it's also cool to see what you can do there. computer editing is fine and dandy, but doing it the "old fashioned" way is still the best and you have more pride in your art. just take some random shots, play with the different settings and have fun. you'll see what works out best for you or even find a style all your own.
