How old are you? Do you know what kind of dog you want? large, med.,or small? Do you want a puppy or an older dog?
As wva__butterfly stated they are a BIG responsibility. Puppies more than adult dogs require more time and care. And breed type also determines the amount of time and attention you will need to devote to your new charge. I agree that volunteering at a locale shelter would be a great idea. There you could learn about the different breeds and their care and up keep. GOOD LUCK

Taking on another pet is a big responsiblity. Think about the responsiblities you will need to train the dog, keep him clean, fed, and vet cked. also, be careful with choosing a dog. Some dogs do not get along with cats. So, make sure they are compatible.
I'd let you if you had good grades, kept room straight & where dependable. Crate training is wonderful. While you are @ school your dog could stay in the crate, where you know they are safe. Good luck.

okay, you don't NEEEED a dog, you want one.
Dogs are hard work, they are like another child, especially puppies with all the training necessary. They also, unlike cats, need to be walked so I can understand how your mom wouoldn't want to take on that responsibility. she has enough to do.
You know you are mature when you can understand when it isn't the right time for something, you have too much going on in your life that would take away from the time you would need to be responsible for a dog. It is selfish of you to expect your mom to take over just because it is something you want. There will come a time when you live on your own and can have whatever pet you wish....dogs aren't going to disappear.

I have 2 dogs, and upward push up at 5:00a.m. each morning, no excuses, to stroll those dogs formerly i flow to artwork (even in a snow fall!!!). I also do a similar at 10:00p.m. each nighttime so that they have got been exercised and could sleep. it really is giant that you're so useful and to blame around the living house and protect your different pets so properly...stick with that for now. :)

First of all please think how this is going to affect your daily life, sure you might have another best friend but you have to clean up after it every single day .it can ruin your mattress, rug, carpet, and other furniture. And also a puppy neeeeeds to go out alot and im not sure that your mom has enough time to do so,but if you are trying to get a puppy try to have one between a small and a medium size(preferably a chihuahua or toy poodle or dachsaund.).

Don't try to convince them. It will just get on their nerves. Next time your parents leave the house, have the locks changed, then go get a dog!!
