I don't think it is wierd, however most people that self harm do attempt to hide the cuts and scars. My guess is that you are unable to express how you feel emotionally, and therefore through showing off your scars you are letting the world see how much emotional pain you are in. They are a hugh part of you and they tell a whole story about how your life has been and how it is now. Perhaps you need some acknowledgement for that. How you decide to do it is up to you, but I would also say that by showing off your scars you are making yourself vulnerable to the rest of society. However you look at it people will stare and wonder what they are. Some people will also start to speculate about you as a person. Thats just human nature, but I would be careful. There is an awful lot of ignorance in the world and some people frown upon such behaviour. As for self harming itself, no I don't think its wierd. Again it is a form of emotional expression and a release of built up emotional pain. It is something that you need to do right now, although I advice you to get some professional help in order to explore it, with the potential of stopping. There are many other ways of expressing pain and these do not involve inflicting yourself with pain. It sounds like you have enough of that in your life right now. I wish you luck with whatever decision you make and I also acknowledge that it wont be easy for you, but just do the best you can. Take care.

well as this is a world wide problem, effecting thousands, i guess no your not. You obv know its an outlet for pain and anger or maybe upset. My guess would be you need to work through in your head the reason why you do this to yourself. You obv believe this makes you special and to make people notice you, this maybe because you have been un noticed all your life. You probably have issues that effect you and you think no one cares about you. There are always people out there who will care, the art is to find someone who does. this maybe parents, friends or even a priest. but either way there is someone who does. It may be that its the ones you love most who hurt you the most, this can be very confusing and hurtful to some people, but there is help out there to make you feel better in yourself and to help you learn to love yourself first and foremost.

Good luck hun and i hope things go well for you.

Yes you are hurt, anyone who self-harms has issues, I self-harmed once - cut my arm a few times with a nice sharp blade, rich dark blood beeded out, that was when I realised that I was behaving like a complete idiot....
I never did that again it made me feel so crap, so 'dark' inside - when you do it you are doing your soul no good at all, and this showing off of scars, do u need attention that badly? You need to talk to a stable friend about this and even seek professional help.

It's not weird, it's negative behaviours which should be addressed. I'm sure there are reasons for you wanting to do that, but many will choose to stay away from you, if you continue doing this, viewing you as weird, and or with serious mental issues. Most people have a lot of personal issues or problems enough of their own to take on anymore of someone else's. It just brings them down, and makes them frustrated, especially if they feel it is just for attention, and find that very immature. In that respect, the only one who loses friendship is you, and I myself would question why would someone want to do that, especially when it's not necessary. Most people seek happiness and growth and avoid any form or act of negativity. Thanks for asking.

Life is difficult, and obviously very painful for you. What you are doing is not healthy and you should try seeking professional help. Showing your scars is like battle wounds in the war of existence, it may be your way of coping but it sends a signal to others that you have some deep emotional issues that need to be addressed.

you aren't weird...but you ARE hurt. Self-harm is another unhealthy response to life's stresses, my friend...like drugs and alcohol and being mean. It is a RESPONSE. What you need to do is write down the "whys" of your anger/hurt.

The mere fact that you are posting this online means that your solution is around the corner...and if you are open minded...read the book of Romans in the New Testament...you will find tangential answers to your question. Best of luck and a prayer has been said for you.

You should look into some therapy, my sis did the same thing for the same reason. The term you could be considered is a "Cutter" &/or "Bipolar Manic Depressive" which both are what my sister has been diagnosed as. So please, talk with some one, so nothing bad too much happens in the future, ie accidental suicide.
