I don't know about websites, but I had to do this for my english class in college. We had to write a research paper on the etymology (that means origin) of our names.

What I used to write the paper was the college library. They have a whole SECTION on etymology, including a name section. Lots of books, and if you have trouble, librarians are WONDERFUL sources of information. Hope this helped.

I found if you google the name it helps ...and then put "origins of surname" afterward a lot of stuff comes up
I tried it with my own name once or twice
