why does my a/c blow cold then blows outside temp on my 1995 volvo 850 turbo?

Question

my car blows really cold air then all of a sudden it blows just the air outside, what could be wrong with it? Sometimes i turn it off and then on again and its cold

From working on these for 20 + years first figure out if the clucth on the compressor is kicking off,when it does see if it still turns but slow after the years we see the magnetic portion wearing out to draw the clutch back in...if it does will need a comp..done alot due to the same problem..so have a tech ck this out

the climate control head [the portion with the knobs] is computerized and can accept updated programming from the dealer only. if you just replaced it with a new one you still must go to dealer for programming [neat racket.] 75% of the time reprogramming is all that is necessary. codes can be retrieved by holding appropriate buttons down simultaneously and then scrolling through codes with top right button if i remember right; left temp max hot right temp max cool then push fan speed up and vent outlet button down to get into diagnosis mode. once you get the code you will still need a manual to interpret stored codes good luck

good possibilty the mix door stop is broke off in the A/C unit box
