Typically when a chicken is cracking the eggs, and probably eating them it is because there is not enough calcium in her diet, If you are feeding them a layer ration and nothing else you will need to go to the feed mill and get oyster shells, just put them in a small gravity feeder and the girls will eat them as they need them. If it is not the calcium thing then do you have nesting boxes in there cuz sometimes if you have a rooster and no nesting box he will try to mount the girls when they sit and when they move he lands on the eggs, or the other chickens step on the eggs, just build a simple one out of wood or take a 5 gallon bucket turn it up side down and cut a hole big enough for the chicken to fit in to. If neither of these help you need to do some investigating, and find the culprit either rid the house of it or cut her top beak so it can't peak the eggs. Good luck

It is that they are needing something in their diet which is usually oyster shell, which you can buy a bag of at the feed store. A chicken that is loose will peck on pebbles but if they are confined,
they can not do this. Oyster shell is cheap and it will cause their shells to be harder too.
