Hi. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. If you are not interested then say so. End of story. You do not have to be rude or make up some stupid lie as others have suggested. We are following the Bible's mandate to share the Bible. We are Witnesses of Jehovah. I am sorry if our presence has been a sorry of tension for you. I noticed you said that the Witnesses seem to always come when your Mom is not home. Maybe this is why they continue to come. More than likely they are hoping to be able to talk to an adult. I do not know how old you are but, judging by your comments you are probably a minor. They are trying to get an adult. Please do not take our literature if you are not interested in reading it. It is not a kindness to fain interest, not to mention what you see as a polite goodbye is probably sounding like an enthusiastic hello. There is no need to be rude. There is no need to be dishonest either.

I was hoping I would not need to add this but, once again people feel it nessacary to make up stuff.

First we are Christians.
Second, if as one suggested, you try showing up at the door nude, we will not go "RUNNING AWAY". In fact, as many Witnesses are minors or have minors present with them, you may be risking Jail time if you exspose your self or as someone else said make a sexual advance.
If I had my niece with me and a Man came to the door, I would feel compelled to report to the police that a gentleman was exposing himself to my niece. Please keep in mind that, while some of these made up stunts might sound appealing, they do not work in real life situations.

I had the same problem with them coming and coming to our house. Even after I had told them many times that we were not interested. The only way I could stop them from coming by, and by the way they were so very nice, but these two women were so persistent, I had to finally answer the door nude. They were so shocked that they ran down the steps and never had another problem with them since. I am male by the way. It was not a obscene nude just nude.

You have the right not to accept the Watchtower magazine and not say anything to them as you pass.

So they are people of great faith and can be obnoxious for sure. So being rude doesn't seem to help them get the message so maybe something that shocks them will get your point across.

Good Luck

It is because we want to do the work that Jesus told us to do in Matthiew 24 :14..... We could have stayed at our house but we do care about the fact that there is not much time left and we want to get people to realize that... The fact that they seem to come when your mom isn't home is just a coincidence...We have like specific time we chose to go out it could be either morning or afternoon it depends onthe schedule.....
About the Watchtower, imagine that you offered sombody something and then that person told you to put it in the dumpster on your way out....................(If you tell us that all we will do is take the watchtower and give it to another person, Also we might thank yooou for letting us talking to you)

simply tell them in a kind manner outside your home that you have your religion of choice and that you are not interested. if they continue simply close your door. a lot of times people hear all these things about Jehovah witnesses and always want to try and "put them in their place" (not saying that this is what you did) but then they think they have a more definite reason to continue coming back in order to convince you that their belief is correct. i am sorry and i am a christian but if Christians would be more like the Jehovah witness, and Mormons and do what the bible says and go out into the world and be a light unto the world we would probably have a little more of a reason to continue striving in explaining to our fellow neighbors that our religion is correct b/c then Christians would have a "stereotype" just like the Jehovah witness's and the Mormons. Christians today find it easier to print it off of a copier and post it somewhere than they had to let their little lights shine

Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation. Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

If you know that you will not read their literature, you should not accept it. That is the proper and respectful thing to do.

Next time one comes to your door....ask to be put on their "Do not call" list. The list is valid for one year. You can also call the local Kingdom Hall and ask to be put on the list. After a year they will probably visit your house again...just to make sure someone else who might be interested hasnt moved in! If you are still living there...just ask to be put back on the list. Its that simple.

They can't stop coming because they've been led to believe that unless they go door-to-door to witness about God's Kingdom, they will be destroyed by Jehovah God at Armageddom which is going to be 'soon'.

Most Witnesses have no idea that one can witness about Jesus without going door-to-door. To be sure, it is a really effective method...in many cases, THE most effective method...of reaching people. Nevertheless, there are other methods of preaching. But because of constant pressure from their 'governing body' who rule the flock with the same authority as the pope does over Catholics, they honestly believe that when Jesus said to be witnesses of Him, that he was specifically referring to an organized door-to-door preaching activity.

Actually that is only one method of preaching. We have no record of the apostles or anyone else in the Bible actually going house-to-house, although they certainly preached the Word. They preached in the temple, the marketplaces, and to people they met in their everyday travels. When people were interested and invited them to their homes, they gladly went, shared meals with them and taught them in their homes. And Christianity spread like wildfire even though we don't read in the Bible even one experience where they actually 'cold-called' on people at their homes door-to-door.

If there are any Witnesses reading this, I'm sure they are screaming at the computer "What about Acts 20:20, you idiot?"
In Acts 20:20, as every Witness has indelibly inscribed into their consciences, Paul says that he did not hold back from "teaching publicly" and "from house to house". So why would I say what I did? For two reasons.

First, in all of Paul's experiences he never mentions "cold-calling" at people's homes. Secondly, the expression that is translated 'house-to-house' has different meanings. In the Greek, it literally means "according to house" and has different applications. For example, this expression occurs at Acts 2:46 where it says the believers took their meals "in private homes". Were the believers knocking on the doors of strangers and asking to eat meals with them? Obviously not; it simply means they took turns eating their meals at the homes of different people. Certainly Paul taught people in their homes after meeting them in the marketplace or wherever. So when Paul said he didn't hold back from teaching them from house to house, he was simply saying he had taught them privately in their own homes, as well as publicly.

Another example of how Witnesses are compelled to do the "preaching work" is easily seen by the way the New World Translation has been worded to substantiate this view. In the book of Revelation, for example, in 6:9, 12:17, and 19:10, the NWT speaks of the "work" of witnessing. A comparison with the original Greek text, however, reveals that the word "work" has been inserted into the NWT although it doesn't appear in the Greek. This helps to put the JW's "under compulsion" feeling that the Bible specifcially speaks of this "work" that they are obligated to perform.

There are several other Scriptures that have been misapplied, but time doesn't permit a discussion of them at this time. But as long as Jehovah's Witnesses believe that they must go door-to-door to earn eternal life, they will keep coming to your door.

Put up a sign on the door that says "No Jehovah's Witnesses". My mom did that and they stopped coming to the door.

Act like a drunk and keep offering them a beer while they are trying to convert you.
I personally have sent everyone of them away willingly to seek an answer to my questions, I am an Atheist and know more about the bible than any JW.
