It keeps the time when the computer is off. It might also keep the BIOS setting when the computer is off.

All the motherboard battery does is keep the settings for the bios. If you didn't have the battery your computer wouldn't be able to remember the date or time and any security settings once you turned the computer off.

Other than,BIOS n clock, it provide power to the unit that remember all the password needed for ur computer.
If u forget the password, or u wan to cancel the old password that u forgoten, remove the battery, wait for a while n replace it back, all the password will b lost. N u can log in without the password. This is applicable to the computer password only, not for internet password eg. Yahoo ID n password.

Two? Only one. It runs the computer's internal clock. It is not for storing memory or anything- that is stored on the hard drive. It works almost like a record player- but in reverse- it writes on one of the two discs with a micro-fine needle; which means that it doesn't require a battery- the information is just "there".

I assume you mean what "two" things. The only thing I'm aware of is it provides continuous power for the real-time clock.
