Wicca is a religion founded by Gerald Gardner. For an excellent (although long) article on the history of Wicca:

All Wiccans do not worship the same deities. Some believe that all male deities are just facets of a single male deity (God) and all female deities are facets of a single female deity (Goddess). Others are polytheistic and believe in many separate individual deities. Wiccans honor deities from various polytheistic cultures and some may even mix deities from different cultures. They do not believe in absolute evil so the Christian devil is not a part of their theology.

Wicca isn't approximately doing magic; it rather is a faith (and prefer plenty diverse religions, there are some magical ideals built-in although now no longer the attractiveness). i've got on no account met a toddler raised Wiccan who boasts being Wiccan makes him/her magical... regularly this comes from the little ones who're misinformed approximately Wicca and watched too much Charmed. Wicca is... as you reported... a faith. it rather is approximately honoring a some distance better power as we see it-- regularly in the variety of God(s) and Goddess(es). it rather is approximately the style you reside your life via way of our tenets and values-- like taking individual accountability for ourselves or getting to renowned a healthy stability in life. we've holy days we've exciting, rites of passage like beginning up and marriage, we've exciting those concerns we keep sacred like another faith. I have no theory wherein Ahmad gets his tips from although you (and he) might desire to behaviour some greater beneficial learn-- it rather is quite diverse for Wiccans to be atheists, it rather is not any longer a "evaluate something you like" faith -- it rather is a faith it rather is rather individual and experiential, although now no longer a loose-for-all and the attractiveness isn't magic or Witchcraft; Gardenarian and Alexandrian are traditions-- or "trads"-- now no longer "faculties" and the Margaret Murray theories approximately the "old faith of Witches" has been debunked for the clarification that the 1970's; Wicca is a state-of-the-paintings faith, now no longer an historic practice... and a e book of Shadows was once on no account regularly used for recording "spells"-- that's greater beneficial of a state-of-the-paintings suggestion of a few shoddy authors for the clarification that the Eighteen Nineties who confuse Wicca and Witchcraft.
