Hi, Iam planning to buy a good 'NiMH batteries recharger'. Which one is good for AA and AAA batterries. I heard that Duracell battery charger does not work with other brand batteries. Can I have charger which works for all brand batteries.
Thanks and Regards, Laxman

You can use Camellion or Sony Charger as well. Both of these companies offer a charger, which can recharge batteries of almost all brands. I hope it will work.

My Ray-O-Vac NiMH charger works great with all that type of battery, both AA and AAA size. I have not had a problem recharging other brands in it, either. But don't charge alkalines in it. It was not expensive and came with four Ray-O-Vac AAs and they are several years old, still crankin'. It hangs from the bottom slots of any outlet, so there is room above to plug in something else. I hope this helps.

Some chargers are better than others. But they are not usually brand specific. There is one caution though. Don't use a fast charger on batteries that are not intended for fast charging.

When in doubt, slow charge your batteries. My charger has a fast and slow setting. Some newer charger have a very fast setting.

To buy: Try Target for Energizer & other brands. The Energizer batteries are very good, but I've not checked out their chargers. Another option is www.nimhbattery.com. The Maha chargers are good.

Just make sure that you are charging with NiMH batteries. I don't think that you can use regular AA or AAA alkaline batteries in an NiMH battery charger. The batteries could cause an explosion. By the way, my NiMH batteries don't last very long in my digital camera so you might want to keep some back ups if you want to use it for something like that. Just don't get NiCd.

I've had great success with the RayOVac fast charger with their IC batteries. It takes about 15 minutes to charge 2 batts. A charge lasts about 6-7 weeks in my universal remote control (daily use).

The fast chargers are more $$, but the time savings were worth it for me. Duracell and Energizer also make fast chargers that I'm sure are excellent quality.

Tom is right, the Maha chargers are excellent. I use the Maha C204W with the Powerex 2700mah AA batteries. The charger is worldwide voltage compatible. Look for it at www.thomasdistributing.com
