It really depends on his situation. It was great to get involved, so kudos for that ! In all actuality there are so many homeless per city that they don't keep track of them very well, and he might not get much help out out of the federal building.
P.S. Would not suggest taking him home with you unless you feel he is fully trustworthy, and there is no one else in your home.

No I never done it before. Nope I would never do it. I would give money, but I just can't let some stranger off the street stay at my house. I have a baby and it would be putting him in danger. Also, I know that my husband would not go for it at all. I'm the type of person that doesn't like just anyone up in my house. Trust me I am very nice and giving, but not in that way. Really your friend has to be careful of this person, he is being too vunerable. It is making it so easy for him to be a victim. There are so many other ways that he can help a homeless person.God Bless!

If you saw him downtown, on Alabama street he was already close to a shelter. The federal building would have turned him away. We tried to take in a homeless man, He hated to bath, he did not want clean clothes, and when we took him out, he kept picking used cigs of the ground to smoke later. We finally decided this was not good for the kids, and had to ask him to leave, which he was more than willing to do. If you want to try to help a homeless person, try to find one that just got that way. The pros do not and will not change.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

May God richly bless your life. "Whatever you do unto the least of mine, you do unto me." Get him connected to a Metro ministry in the city.....get him psychiatric care through the county if needed......help him get to the Salvation Army if he doesn't have a drug problem.....if he has a drug problem and lives on the street, many churches gather together and make sure that food is taken on the streets every night of the week...the homeless know.....unfortunately there is not much help since all social funding as been cut by the govt. in this administration. You can always show him a church and they can always find some kind of help.....keep up the good work and you can do more, if you wish.......

Many homeless people have multiple problems, so sending him to one place for solutions may not work. If he needs employment, that's one solution set; if he is mentally ill or alcoholic, there's additional work that has to be done in order to help him get onto a success track.
I personally don't know exactly what to do for any specific homeless person, but I refer them to St. Vincent de Paul services if I run into any here in the Bay area.

In a Federal Building, he would have to be a veteran to get help.
Homeless shelters, employment agencies, & social services are all local & state agencies. Be careful of talking to homeless people alone, many are on streets due to mental illness & thus are unstable in their behavior.

some are on the streets because of a bad run of luck, but most are because they don't want to be responsible. I have seen to many programs were pan-handler beg for money all day then go to the nearest gas station and change cloths and get into their late model cars like Lexus and cads. if they ask for money to get something to eat, buy them a meal and give it to them. in most cases they just want alcohol or drugs.

Give them the basic needs for their own survival on planet earth.
That will get them off the streets.
But living human kind is taking everything away from our brothers and sisters out there on planet earth.
That is why they have to stay in the streets on planet earth.
Were not sharing and giving them our creator's universal gifts of life for their own survival on planet earth.
